Still- the entire market of MG1 ECU's isn't that big. The market isn't there for 'some insane landfall of money' like some people are saying. Sure you can make a great living, but there's no get-rich-quick by unlocking ECUs.
Seems like half the job is just answering dumb questions from supra/BMW owners. In that case they should hire you, an industry expert.

I should just use my OnlyFan's to answer BMW/Supra questions.

So I'm finally to the point where I'm considering a partial unlock. It's all I'll need. I know we have an MHD vs BM3 thread, but I'm curious to know why those who went this direction chose either MHD or BM3, are you happy with the decision, who you went with for tuning, and are you happy with them? It seems like it would be valuable information to have in this thread.

Hopefully only another week of this...

MHD was my choice. Did the custom unlock with Femto which was removing torque limiters in the ecu. My first flash took 7 seconds!

wouldn’t turn back now. All the maps are great out of the box, and make smooth power through the whole range.

Good to know the OTS maps are solid. Why did you go MHD over BM3?

The quality of the OTS maps is higher in my opinion. Sure you could get a great custom tune for BM3 and it would be equally as smooth.

I also love the fast flashing times, and less complicated settings. Seems tuners prefer it over BM3 cloud-based tuning as well.

Awesome info. Thanks for that!

Don't fool yourself, there were never tremendous profits to be made.

Even if 1,500 people do it (10% of all USA Supra Sales.. which is unlikely), and they charge $500, that's $750,000 after time and money spent on R&D, labor and shipping, and business income tax, you're looking at what? Half a 350k one-time windfall? That's not exactly an amount of money for a business to write home about.

Shit, even double all those numbers. 3,000 units at $1,000 (which approaches the Femto unlock price), that's 3 million one-time, pre-tax, sub R&D, labor, shipping, etc.

Maybe you can earn some brand recognition, but you're not exactly living like a king with a one-time business income of 3mm.
The thing is they claim to already be able to 100% fully unlock these ECUs for some time now. They say they’ve already done it.

But they’re too busy “building the world’s fastest McLaren” to bother “finish testing” and sell the unlock. Because that’s the shop owners “priority.”

The R&D is done. Everything is done. They’ve literally already unlocked cars. It’s all done and ready.

They’re just too busy building some McLaren that nobody cares about to make $ off their hard work and ingenuity

Anyway, that’s the story they told me on the phone.

Anybody else is welcome to call them and hear it first hand.

But my reaction: their story doesn’t add up. Sounds like horseshit. I proceeded to purchase an ECU from a forum member here that has been sourcing them immediately after talking to them.

And the timeline they said is now “really close, hopefully by end of February” ?

I literally believed 0% of it. Don’t hold your breath guys. Could be wrong, JMO, but doesn’t add up.

I also went with MHD as a preference since I already had XHP Flashtool. I'm loving both! 93 OTS tune and stage 2 XHP.

However, I'm still waiting for them to release the Multi-map function like BM3 has had already for over a year.

Ah yes I forgot to mention this. I can flash xhp and MHD both from the same hardware. Coincidentally I’m also running stage 2 on both with 93 octane
