Lots of misinformation here.

- If you pay for a Femto unlock, and not a clone, you can do the clone later without going back to Finland/Russia. Femto can get you the calibration file from the stock ECU while they have it.

- This isn't a fucking ransom. Going through Visconti is expensive, but they do add value (insurance, for example, $300 shipping each way didn't cover insurance to Russia), though after that smashed up ECU deal from that one guy makes it seems like they won't actually cover it. Femto direct is very affordable.

- Stateside thing is irrelevant. If the state-side unlock happens and it's more than ~$400, like a bench unlock, it's fucking bullshit and fuck those guys.

- Not doing the clone out of principal is really sticking to the man! Good on that. You get to be slow, and no one else gives a fuck.

Yupp. I personally don't trust myself with shipping and worrying about customs which is why I'm choosing epc to handle it flying it over. Cheaper than visconti, but more then a normal pre June unlock. Middle ground I feel like for the situation. And as you stated every shop I've talked to, isn't more expensive to get the clone later on. So might as well get it now.

Yeah I am sending out to Femto on Monday for an unlock using MHD. I am tired of waiting too and I am not paying a ransom for a clonable ecu either. I almost did but then i had to pull my head out of my arse. Upgraded turbo, custom tune, and xhp with M1 will get me 650 hp which is good enough for now until someone actually does a full domestic unlock. DHL has 35% off codes for shipping so it's only about $250 each way to Finland.
shipping yourself?

You folks paying for the partial will end up paying the same as a full unlock since you'll be paying twice IF an unlock becomes available. Not my money but I would just pay the ransom now if you can't wait for a full unlock. I'm pretty fed up too but I'm not doing the clone on principle and come summer if it isn't unlocked stateside I'll move the car.
Yeah it may suck paying twice but like you I am not paying for the clone regardless. Its just gotten rediculous at this point. Even if I pay twice it won't come close to 5k. $2,500 for pre 6/20 ecu, plus clone service, plus shipping. I am just not paying that regardless of how much money I do or dont have...partial unlock with shipping is between 1100-1200 total and I can weild 650 HP out of my car with supporting mods. That will definitely buy my patience for another year or two before I consider a moving to a different platform. When a true full stateside unlock becomes available it will be great but until then it sucks for a lot of us unfortunately.

It's not going to be any more expensive. It's not like two different services. Still need an unlock to get it cloned. If a donor ecu comes available I just get it cloned.
Yeah…..So I was just saying that’s what the previous poster was implying when he said to pay twice.

I’m personally just going to send it in for a partial unlock, so I can get some type of tune on the car. Also, currently seems like finding an ecu to clone on to isn’t readily available.

I know of only one clonable ecu thats available from a 2020 Supra but they are asking 2500. Might be able to get him to come down a couple hundred. But I am just going to wait it out until our actual ecu can be fully unlocked domestically.....hopefully...I spoke with someone who is a BMW ecu programmer/tech and he told me the post 6/20 ecu's have been fully cracked already and that he expects another year before its made commercially. Take that for what it's worth. If it happens sooner then great and if it doesn't happen at all then that will suck.

Not for anything, but its been "another year" and a "another week" for a bit now.

I am hoping that patience will pay off eventually. It usually does. Time will tell I suppose and nothing is ever guaranteed. In the mean time I think there are some great gains to be made by utilizing the partial unlock thats available by Femto over the other options out there. May not be able to be the fastest Supra right now but that's not excactly everyone's current goal anyway. I am happy just destroying some American muscle doing a roll on the freeway.....not that I have ever done that before...

2023 Manual Supras can not be cloned. They have a different ECU. Sorry to be that guy.

I was going to use my cloned ECU from my previous build for this, but got told it would not work.

I'm not sure if this includes the partial unlock as well.

Really? That sounds like good information for the website.

Then It's a good thing the MT is allegedly so much more enjoyable to drive than the AT

I know you're being snarky, but I agree. It's going to be a while before there's a MKV Supra in the banger class.
