Just an informational follow-up on the Al Priority install. I was getting a mystery problem with the system going back and forth from yellow (laser reception) to the blue led (laser jam), while driving at highway speeds. Seems I had the GPS antenna mounted too far under the driver's dash or near some metal or something. It was causing the GPS to lose signal and hence turn from blue (jam) to yellow (receive only). Moved it just near the right leg center console near the gas pedal. Now it stays connected to GPS. The GPS icon should be solid white on the app, not flashing. Confirmed this with Tom at ALP today. Hope this helps someone else!

I finished the ALP install. The inside electrical was actually easier than I thought it would be. Installed the controller on driver’s side fender wall and ran the sensor wires to the engine area through that little hole. Had to run the power and ground to the passenger side and use that fuse panel. There is a good metal ground there also. Running the sensor wires to the front was very painful. Took the driver side latch cover off, but needed a clothes hanger wire to navigate down to the front grill area. Once the sensor wires were in the front, just pulled them to the sensors. I used the sensor mounts with some adhesive. Oh, I mounted the control button next to the shifter. The center padded right leg panel simply pops off, and I ran the wire through there.
Did ya have to do any mods to the grill to get the sensors to fit?

No, I did not cut or alter the grills. I used the metal AL sensor mounts and some outdoor clear Goop adhesive. Used some temporary tape under the mount due to the angle shape of the grill, while the adhesive dried overnight, so it did not drip down. Pretty easy and clean looking. Not sure what the adhesive looks like behind the grill, but who cares. Just make sure you check the level of the mounts a few time, while it dries. Make sure the sensor mounts are out a little bit, so when you snap in the sensor with some clearance to the grills and they can be pulled/pushed a little to re-level. If you screw up, the Goop stuff can be peeled away and redone. By the way, I used Goop on my wife’s AMG 3 years ago for those AL sensors, and they are still good. Hope that helps!

I'm doing a hardware install of my Valentine 1, and I'm wondering if anyone has found a fuse in the forward fuse box that is switched? I'm just going to use an add-a-circuit and since the user manual has the fuse locations and functions very well documented, I figure there's gotta be one there that's not constant. Maybe F59-Rearview mirror? I assume that's the auto-dim and should be switched.

Hardwired my V1, finally. Far easier than I thought it would be. For those interested, I used a simple add-a-circuit to fuse F46 in the front panel. It powers the 12v accessory socket exclusively. Stays on for a few minutes after car shutdown, but does turn off. The cord tucked nicely behind the headliner and down the A-pillar without needing to remove anything other than the fuse door cover.

I followed consultadrone tips and did a hardwire today myself. Front fuse box located in the passenger footwell. The add-a-fuse only accepts up to 10A. F46 location has a 20A fuse which powers the 12V cigarette lighter. I use that for an air compressor sometimes, and didn't want to put an 10A fuse in it, so I decided to use F47 location instead. All of the wires tuck nicely and gives you a nice stealth look. You can't even see it when you look into the car. Plus your sun visor will still work 100%.

  • Note: Both fuse locations come on immediately when you open/unlock the door. They will also remain hot for 6 minutes after you close/lock the doors.
  • TIP: You can run the wire up the passenger pillar and across the headliner. The wire will neatly tuck behind the headliner. There is a plastic trim piece around the rearview mirror that the wire will tuck behind too.
  • TIP: The nut above the fuse box works great for a ground location. I recommend unscrewing the nut all the way and then pulling the plastic cover down. Then install your ground wire, then plastic trim, then nut. This will push your ground wire firmly into the bare metal so you have a solid connection for your ground.

I used the same spot for my ground. Works great. I don't remember seeing a fuse in F47, and I wasn't aware of the amp limitation of the add-a-circuit. Did you have a fuse in F47 or did you just use the empty location? I may have to change the fuses and drop to a smaller 10amp

F47 does not have a fuse in it. I ran a test with it and it worked exactly the same as F46 location. I double checked the fuse diagram and it doesn't show anything being used at that location. Drove around all day off and on and hit every button I could try in the car and everything seemed fine. So I opted with that location and just used a 3A fuse for that spot and 5A for my radar. The 3A should pop easily and quickly if the fuse location does activate for something not listed in the manual.

Man that’s good info!! Thanks for sharing that. I think I like that setup much better than pulling off the 20A 12V circuit. Gonna change mine over

Okay, So i have a Escort ixc and wanted to know what I need to hardwired it to the car? Also, how much would it cost "estimate" to have someone hardwire it for me?

Ryco, it looks like you would only need two parts (Add-a-Circuit & Hardwire). About $7 & $30 for hardwire. Literally it's only two screws and one bolt that you have to mess with. It's a super easy install.

Per Escort webpage, you have two options to hard wire.

The Escort Direct Wire Smart Cord Item # 0010057-1. The only thing I didn't like about that wire was the mute button that's built into it. Not sure where you would want that mounted.

The other option is just a direct hardwire and you can tuck the cords all away stealthy in the headliner edge and down the pillar to the fusebox. Escort Direct Wire Item # 0010058-1
