Introducing - The Rapid Designs A90 Rear Cup Holder Insert!
20260428_130024.webp

A short while ago I was approached by a friend and Manual A90 Owner to design an insert for the rear cubby so that he could use it as a cup holder. The main issue he was running into was the fact that shifting while using the cup holders was awkward and uncomfortable and he would routinely elbow a mug or other cup.

After a couple iterations and test prints, I've settled on this design as the best use of space for the rear cubby. Not only do you have a cup holder sized to fit a wide variety of vessels (more example pics below), but you also have a smaller pocket for things like a wallet, keys, eyeware, etc.

Installation is super easy, just unscrew the 2 screws hidden under the rubber spill mat, slid in the insert, and screw them back in, DONE!

Great product. It's been nice not elbowing whatever drink I had in the factory cup holder .

Purchased! Out of curiosity what material do you print this out of? I have a 3D Printer as well and wanted to get into fabbing stuff up for my soup at some point. Dabbling with PETG now.

Thank you! For this product I'll be printing it in PETG. That being said ive had great luck with it used in my fender vents and rear spats!

I will be borrowing stealing this idea for the hand sanitizer I keep in there that always flops left and right depending on the turn that I'm making.

Yeah I'd do PETG and see how it goes - you could always do ASA or something if you wanted better thermal resistance. I've had PLA slightly warp just on a moderately warm day when it was under constant load in the cabin.

Where can i find a cad model? I don't mind paying for it as I've been struggling to properly model an insert, i would use it as a base to model almost like a center console thing to store items in.

Haha thanks man! I appreciate the support. I try to make cool stuff that I would actually use on my own car (and do!).

Looks awesome. If the smaller compartment isn't utlized very much, I can see myself sneaking a cavity in and hiding my AirTag.

Have you tested the PETG in 150*F+ interiors? I've always thought I had to print interior pieces with higher temp resistant materials like ABS/ASA.

Oh i bet you could! And yep, my shift lights on the top of my dash are PETG. As are my fender vents which are still holding up strong after 2+ years of ttack abuse lol
