Hi, new here and excited to be getting my new to me supra next week which I was hoping to take to the likes of litchfield for a remap, Problem is the general consensus seems to be if toyota have locked it it cant be done? Whiffbitz said it can be done but they are a long way from me so just wondered if anyone else had any joy?

Hi, congrats, fun week (this?) week!
I have a 2019 that received the latest software update from my local dealer last September which included the full screen apple car play etc. I then took it to Litchfield before Christmas, no issues.
What MY is yours? You need to look at the sticker on the door frame.
cheers

Mine is a early 20 car. litchfields seemed a little unsure and given its a 3 hour drive i was a little reluctant to drive all that way if it cant be done. Be great if they could.

20 cars should just need a bench unlock. Easy.

Door frame sticker doesn't matter in the slightest. It's the ECU date that's interesting. There's several videos on youtube that will show you how to check, takes 10 minutes.

Hiya, I mentioned the doorframe sticker as mine is a MY20 car but the sticker shows a 2019 build, so a v quick check told me I was fine. I suspect the OP will be the same??

Only thing that matters is the ECU date.

Bit of a sore point, I waited all day for the works to be done assuming that I was waiting for the car to go onto the Dyno for testing, turns out all they do is put the std map in and do a road test. Long story short, I don't know and will have to take to a RR to find out, apparently if you want it to go onto the RR you need to ask for it - my bad, thought it was all part of it.
I'd have happily paid for the session, but it was closing time and that was that. I'm a couple of hours away and busy with family/work so going back just for a RR session is not an option at the mo.
The car is noticeably quicker and it was worth the time/cost - IMHO, when the weather picks up I'll test with the draggy and see what the real-world difference is.

Thats a bit annoying for you! if it was just a standard map would have thought you would have been in and out in no time? When they did my GTR some years back only took a little while and that included a dyno run.

Same thing happened to me, I assumed the remap would include a power run but it doesn't and you need to ask for that separately.

(un)luckily because of the recall and Toyota messing it up the first time, I had to go back down to Litchfield a further 4 times so I got a dyno run on one of those.

440hp and 450lb/ft with their stage 1 (not sure if the catback exhaust and intake add anything to that)

What did toyota mess up and why did you need 4 visits? I only ask as i was concerned that by servicing it with toyota they might scrub the map at a later date? i know mine has had the recent software recall done.

As it was mapped already when I got the recall letter, I had to take it to Litchfield for them to put the original map back on, then took it to my local Toyota, they said they'd done the recall, so I took it back down to Litchfield (around 2hrs from me) and had the map put back on.

It was only a few months later that Toyota got in touch to say the car still hadn't had the recall fix... When I spoke to the dealership, they said they'd not done it after all and I had to book it back in, which meant another drive down to Litchfield to have the map swapped back, then the recall done correctly and then another trip to get the stage 1 finally back.

The last time, it did take Litchfield longer to unlock the ECU, but no issues since. I'd recommend the stage 1, makes a huge difference to the feel of the car.
