I’ve been slowly working on customizing my interior, starting with having premium leather seats from Katzkin professionally installed (heating and cooling was also added). However, I struggled to find someone to recover an aftermarket steering wheel with matching material for a price I could afford. So I did it myself, and I am very pleased with the results. This is not only my first attempt at working with reupholstering, I have never even used a sewing machine before.

How do you turn on the cooling feature? Separate button mounted?

Yes, a button was mounted on the side of the seats, next to the seat adjustments. The button controls the aftermarket heating and cooling.

It looks like the switches for it are furthest up on the front of the seat. Can see an extra switch that isn't normally on those seats if you look in his photo

Great work. Definitely intrigued about more information on how you retrofitted cooling for the seats I don't think I've seen anyone else who has done that yet. I've always thought it odd we have heated seats but no cooling when I feel the majority of people drive these cars during warmer months primarily.

Yes, that’s the button. It operates both heating and cooling. One way for heat, the other way for cooling—toggle the same direction up to three times for different temperature settings.

Katzkin can help fill in the details on the cooling if you’d like to ask a sales rep. They use the DegreeZ system. I was skeptical at first, thinking it would only be ventilated, but it is actually cooled. I am very pleased with the difference it makes on a hot Alabama summer day.
The last part of the project will involve matching the door panels and center console to the Katzkin seats.

If you don’t mind sharing how much were the seats plus installation? I desperately wanted cooled seats.

I want to say they were around $4k, which included the premium leather as well as installation.
