I heard things about how cleaning it with wrong chemicals can change the coloration so just wanted to make sure

Have you tried just using some water and a microfiber?

Is it just some residue or does the material seem actually discolored?

My first attempt would be all purpose cleaner, I use chemical guy's APC.
DO NOT use a Magic Eraser, it will make it worse. Magic Erasers are basically sand paper

For situations like this, I always ask on reddit/detailing. There's always someone that can help. Otherwise, I never recommend sticking anything to the dash. That material is generally delicate and it can take permanent damage easily

Looks like the rubber leached into the "leather"...no clue.
