Tried looking through past threads to see if anyone switched from a Supra to a gt350.
Not much info but I was wondering if anyone has owned both. Honestly I don't care about hype or how many looks I get around town.
Smiles per gallon is the biggest factor, owned a 19 mustang gt and loved it (was loud as shit) but the MT-82 ruined it for me so decided to get the supra.
I get there 2 different cars but before I get hung on a cross just wondering if anyone has actual feedback.

I looooooove the GT350 and I test drove a used 2017 several years ago before I bought my first Supra - the dealer just threw me the keys and I just kept driving it for like 30 minutes. I am of course not your target audience since I did not own one but for what it is worth: the driving experience of the GT350 has stayed with me until this day since it was so good. However, I can't bring myself to buy a used Mustang that is 60-75 grand for an example in the condition that I would want that potentially. It also is rumored to have a ticking time bomb of a motor and no warranty unless you happen to find one that was certified (likely going to cost over 70K in that case). I know that motor issue is potentially overblown, especially after some fixes were applied for the 2019 and 2020MY but I don't want to take the risk. The mustang stigma is silly but that's just the way I am I suppose and is just my personal perception. Similarly, I found with my Z06 that I didnt like seeing another Corvette on the road every time i took a drive. The supra may be less special in some ways but I also am weird in that I like knowing I have a car that is at least somewhat more rare and I wont see everywhere. Tnat said, there is no denying the GT350 is one of the best cars under 100K, and I would love to have one if I could buy a new one with a warranty still. It was fhe closest thing I've driven to the 2024 Z06 that I had in terms of the engine and sound dominating the experience.

I have always loved Supras and this is my second 6MT but I do have an affinity for new cars that have a warranty so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I think the build quality is an important thing for me too, though obviously is not very high on the list for others. If you care purely about overall driving experience, the GT350 (if you find a good one for a reasonable price) is very hard to top.

I recently considered getting a Mach 1 since it is essentially a more reliable GT350 - different motor but it has the tremec manual but I suppose I like the overall package of the Supra more and that is because of some of my priorities that may be different from yours. I've mentioned elsewhere that I like smaller, lighter cars and Mustangs are neither small or light.

I was never able to test drive one but I did ride in one and fell in love. I was originally looking for a Mach 1 or a gt350 when i wanted to trade in my GT but the supra caught my eye immediately and I said fuck it and pulled the trigger. Don't get me wrong I love the supra and was my first car I heavily modified but I feel the itch for something more engaging. I do see a lot for more supras now and I do get a lot of looks with it but I dont really give a shit the car isn't for other people its for me. Even though the 350 is a s550 you could tell a gt from a 350 pretty quick.
I do think the GT350 reliability issue is kind blown out of proportion, the gen 1s are known for oil consumption and starvation but at this point 10 years later we know everything about the voodoo. I just had to replace the oil pump and oil filter housing for the supra so every car has its issues. Besides that I do think I will pull the trigger on the 350.Going to test drive one on Saturday, I know once i pull off the lot I will fall in love immediately.

I went the other way. 350R to the Supra. Both had ridiculous potential but the Supra was more fun to drive and cheaper/easier to find consumables. I would not have swapped back the other way unless money were no object.
I drove both on the street, occasionally and the Supra wins in the comfort/attention departments. I hated the type of attention I got in the Mustang.
My 350R was on it's second engine. Despite that, the fears are mostly unsubstantiated. It is pretty rare to have an engine go, despite internet lore.

That's the exact color I want lead foot grey lol.
Your more of a track guy but how was the feel on the street?
I know it's stiffer and can be kind of harsh at times.

I have two friends who I run time trials with who run a GT350. The amount of starters and alternators they've gone through due to electrical issues is insane compared to any other car. One of them ended up not being able to get his car running on Sunday at an event and had to borrow a car for one lap just to get a lap time on record for that competition day for the season championship.

I love the car, the sound, the look, etc but reliability has been a joke from my anecdotal evidence. You can definitely have more smiles per gallon on the street with a GT350 if that's your thing. I have another buddy who had a Mach 1 that I got to drive and it was awesome but the handling was vastly inferior to a Supra. He ended up swapping to a Supra after getting to drive mine.
