Went for a 1200 mile trip this past week and I am back home and cleaning the car up.

On the lower body behind the left front tire is what I believe to be some black tar smears that are not coming off. I have used; soap and water, a clay bar with lube, rubbing alcohol…. Nothing seems to cut it.

Some of it is on my PPF and some on the lower door paint that is not PPF’d

I suppose I can use gas on the paint, but I don’t think that would be good for the PPF area.

Any suggestions for a method or a product?

Looking at a star I got tar on my car coming home from the bar. Thinking about a fix I was at a stall when I remembered about rubbing alcohol, problem solved…

Well all good answers above…. I went out in the middle of the night to try the WD40 method and it didn’t touch it at all. The closer I examine it, it may not be tar, it might be black paint.

I cannot envision how something like that would have been in the roadway, but it definitely is in a pattern that shows it splattered back from the front tire.

Hmmmm… suggestions for removing paint? (and again, I don’t want to damage the PPF..)

I would then try a safe and designated plastic polish since it’s on top of the ppf.

I’ve seen paint and caulking end up on my cars over the years just from daily driving.

Here are two other products I use on my personal cars with ppf that you could try.

Hope this information is helpful.

I appreciate all the comments (and the poem… 🥺)

A slight bit of gas finally got the job done…

(And it was fun going to a gas station with a pickle jar to buy 10 cents worth of gas on a credit card… 👍)

Thanks
