Yeah, you're right.

I'm getting them to chase numberplate now.

Thanks for the heads up mate, I've been very vocal about not destroying my front bar... Given my dealer already did that on my first one during a routine service.

Glad I mentioned it. Let me know how you go. I tried to have it put on my contract and my delaer balked. I'm chasing it here too but if you make any inroads, please PM me or post it here. Hopefully we can get ahead of it.

Delivery update:

The car was suppose to be delivered Yesterday 18th April, however the car was cleared and delivered to the Sunshine depot for inspection.

Updated eta is tomorrow or Friday.

Kinda annoying the process, but hey it's in the sunshine depot now hahahaha.

I asked for the dealer to not wash the car, no drilling anything to the car without consent, I will be providing my own custom plates and leave all wraps and covers on the car.

I will let you how I go, hopefully they get the msg, every email daily is reminding them about this.

I would think @Imfao deserves the 1st Supra in Australia for all his hard work and creating this thread!

Hahaha.. I'll just take a car without a hideous front plate holder at this point - ETA early June.

And for those who are wondering exactly how clueless Australian dealers are, take a look at some of the answers in this FAQ: https://www.maroochydore.kenmillstoyota.com.au/blog/is-that-a-supra-and-other-supra-faqs/3781/

"Unlike its predecessor the 2JZ, which was a twin-turbo inline-six, the 3JZ is a V8 with two turbochargers. Toyota says the 3JZ produces 1,000 horsepower with 1138Nm of torque. Hold onto your seats, folks!"

Umm..

...emailed again regarding the plate... especially given I should have the car next Wednesday, I don't want to have to think of ways to hide two shitty holes in the front end!

I'll give a good account of 8AT 2019 vs 2023 6MT too...

Now I'm just waiting for 2019 AT models to get cheap enough to retire the A70 as the track car, and track the A90 AT...

My dealerships delivery guy says he hasn't heard of any change re the number plate.

He said he'd chase it up and let me know.

Hey GRSoup.

Firstly congratulations. Looks mint.

Secondly do you know if or can you ask if your dealer is using the Altona pre-delivery centre.

https://www.drive.com.au/news/toyota-australia-mega-pre-delivery-centre/

I'd like to get ahead of this because my car is off to PPF the day I take delivery....on a tow truck so I don't damage the bumper hahaha

Thanks man, I was told mine went to the Sunshine Depot for pre-delivery, I am not from the west so not sure if they are the same. But the car was delivered to the dealer I purchased it.

My car was collected from the dealer and straight on the tow truck.

Congrats man! Spewing about the front plate mount though - Are you going to get it repaired or leave it? I'm still waiting on information from my dealer.

And you can count me in with putting her straight onto a truck to PPF. Did it feel weird to collect and then give up straight away? Did you follow the truck? lol

The Plate Mount saga continues.. I've had a few calls/texts/emails from Toyota as well as my dealer and everyone's looking into it. At the very least I do get the impression they are all aware of exactly how intimately this is all connected to me not just cracking the shits and buying an M2.

I've also had a few repair quotes as an emergency fallback.. $650-$800AUD to respray the bumper and get it back to new.. And I'm painfully aware that even if I get Toyota to foot the bill, chances are it'll never be exactly the right colour anyway.

Ugh.
