For anyone else whose car is in port at the moment, my dealer gave me an update to say it is tracking to be in at the dealership late this week. Ship landed on the 17th.. so that's around two weeks from dock to dealership, for those wanting to know.

I was just wondering, has anyone worked out roughly how long their car was on a boat for?

My car was made 2 weeks ago. Today the Toyota lads logged in and saw it's still showing that it's at the wharf. But, they think it's on a boat and the system hasn't been updated.

Trying to figure out roughly how far away I am still.

Now I know it's made, this is killing me.

From memory, my car showed as shipped in February, arrived at the bay mid April, stayed on the boat for 7 days, then the docks for 5 days, 2 days at the pre-delivery centre. I ended up picking it up from the dealer on the 1st May.

All the details regarding dates that I received from the dealer turned out to be wildly inaccurate. I don't think it was my dealer's fault, just the backwards Toyota Australia system and how they get and update their information - I literally found out my car was on a boat by accident. By that stage it had just left South Africa and rounding our South-West coast!

Having said all that, running my VIN in the recall database (no recalls listed) suggests that my car was built in February 2023. It landed in Port Melbourne mid May and at this stage, delivery has been pushed to next week sometime. And just to complete the timeline, I ordered this bitch in July 2022.

Now I know it's made, this is killing me.

The car carriers from Germany generally take about 5 weeks to sail here depending on the ports they visit here and in what order. If you can find out the name of the ship your car is loaded on you can track it on any one of a few maritime tracking apps.

Looks like it will be around 11 months from ordering to delivery. Interestingly that is about par for the course here in Australia - They quoted me nine months but most people seem to be waiting around 12 months now. And in fairness, I have had the opportunity to pick-up Supras that were close to my spec along the way, but held out for exactly what I wanted.

Thanks for your help everyone. Now it's built I think my brain has been occupied by 95% Supra.

VIN - Not yet. Toyota don't give VINs until scanned on the boat, our stock controller said.

Mine is still showing on the wharf, but she reckons it should be shipped by now, as its been in that status for 2 weeks. She said Toyota usually update ship names/status on Tuesdays. Fingers crossed Supra fits in there too...

I think she said mine is plated as a May build. Seems like it was done at the very start of May though.

I wanted to order August but they said ordering was still my22. So I signed up September. My order was officially placed with Toyota October (when ordering became available for my23 options). Prior to October you could order, but no MT or Azure Blue. I didn't want to order a my22 and hope for my colour combo/spec having a free allocation... my luck sucks.

Lmfao or GRSoup - Mind sharing or Pm'ing me your boat name? I just want to find its travelling history (see stops/timeline).

PMd. Also, on my paperwork, my car is listed as having been built on 01/02/23 but I suspect the day is just a placeholder of sorts and not indicative of the actual day it was built.
