My source was right, there is a "S1" potentially coming, at least based on that video!!https://jalopnik.com/decoding-the-new-toyota-supras-bmw-engine-1831993336

S1..... S = Upper upper class? hahaMy source was right, there is a "S1" potentially coming, at least based on that video!!
n54 owner here pushing over 600 to the tire. Seen plenty in the 700's. Looks like the b58 will be even stronger, high compression, and unbeatable thermal efficiency with that w2a manifold. This B58 engine has incredible potential. I have a 2008 bmw 135i it has the N54 engine which is an older generation of their straight 6 turbo and with just bolt ons and a tune has 400hp and 425tq. This new engine is going to be able to put down major power with minor modifications and proper tuning.
That's good numbers! Are the motors above 500 hp suitable for daily driving?n54 owner here pushing over 600 to the tire. Seen plenty in the 700's. Looks like the b58 will be even stronger, high compression, and unbeatable thermal efficiency with that w2a manifold.
Sure, I daily mine but switch from e85 to 93 occasionally -- mostly run e85. Plenty of people daily their 500+whp bmw's (n54, s55).That's good numbers! Are the motors above 500 hp suitable for daily driving?
Wait til' Real Street, Sound Performance, etc... all get their hands on the new car. It will be a whole different level of performance.Sure, I daily mine but switch from e85 to 93 occasionally -- mostly run e85. Plenty of people daily their 500+whp bmw's (n54, s55).
That would really depend on the aftermarket support for the B58 or else they would have already been working on them.Wait til' Real Street, Sound Performance, etc... all get their hands on the new car. It will be a whole different level of performance.
Yes it is a quad turbo dieselDoes bmw have an engine with the “s” out?
Yeah, but that is a different family of inline six engines B57D30S0. That is a B57, not B58.Yes it is a quad turbo diesel
Yeah, but the 'family' is completely irrelevant to the modular engine naming conventions.Yeah, but that is a different family of inline six engines B57D30S0. That is a B57, not B58.
Development times nowadays are super quick....especially in motorsports. Shops have prototyping tools at hand in-house.That would really depend on the aftermarket support for the B58 or else they would have already been working on them.
Yes, but just so we are clear, an “S” motor from a B57 is completely different than a “S” motor from a B58.Yeah, but the 'family' is completely irrelevant to the modular engine naming conventions.
