I've been a bit quiet here because I have been heads down on http://www.tuningtools.io/ . I've been doing some smaller updating in the app that I have felt didn't need any announcements. I do have a big definition update coming before the week is over. 3,000+ new tables will be added to S58 BIN's and 4,000+ to S55/N55 BIN's. N54 and B58 gen 1/2 to follow.

However, what I have been really been focusing on is a datalogger. Not to match what is out, not to release to compete (Why? Tuning Tools is free.00), but to create something that integrates well with Tuning Tools, and offers something a bit unique. I'm a track guy... historically I have been datalogging more chassis/suspension/brake related channels via direct CAN network physical tapping, with no ability to cleanly have those channels merged with engine channels. So I have once again been building something that I have wanted for a long time.

What the heck does this mean? The first release will be limited to B58 Gen 2 and S58. This is on purpose to make sure the quality is where it should be.

Hundreds of DID channels. These are not generic OBD2 channels, these are BMW specific.

But wait, there is more... RAM Channels that span from 10-1000hz. These are even more BMW specific and what the BMW DME defines functions with. They map to table axes and are input and output sources for how the DME operates.

This also means you are logging them at higher speed than DID channels and exponentially higher speed than generic OBD2 channels. Think brake torque, G-forces, wheel speed, turbo dynamics, Boost Target, Boost Setpoint, Temperatures, etc that the DME literally uses as inputs and outputs to how it operates!

This has been a huge effort as RAM channel addresses change every BIN software version, and since I have never been handed the keys to the kingdom and do not have every single software version A2L, I have had to been resourceful, building tools that can find, translate and define these addresses.

This will be available across web and mobile. Wired ENET or WiFi Dongle. (both currently working). Check out this video I put together. It shows a sample of channels I have working on my personal B58 Gen 2. Note that this is a development build and the first release will be better curated and organized.

Once again, I am building for all of you, and for me. A middle finger to the gatekeeping and the riddles.

Really impressive work! Been following your TuningTool project for a while now.

I've managed to pull the RAM addresses from my own car to read things like ethanol content etc in my own app, but nothing even close to what you've done here. So far I'm mostly stuck with using the Mode 22 BMW spesific DID's due to the problem you just explained, about different RAM adresses for different BIN versions.

What I'm working on is more of an upgraded BimmerLink with a GR Supra theme. What you're doing here is on a completely different level.

I'll definitely give it a try when you release it!

When you get a free moment can you re-post or review best practice / connection/ tools to pull this data? I did the OBD2 port wiring in the passenger well with the MHD dongle but if i leave it connected my car trips out and throws every code imaginable. Want to make sure i'm on the correct path. Thank you for doing this.

This will be from the OBD2 port via wired ENET adapter or WiFi dongle (like the MHD dongle). No hacky weird stuff anymore.

FINALLY have access to the intake temp sensor pre-turbo that is right after the airbox that has eluded all of us for years. Tested and verified. Exciting. Now you can really see if your fancy $1,000 intake was a waste of cash or not.

I have a lot of other very interesting and valuable RAM logging channels I will share more of soon as well!

TuningTools B58 Gen2 / S58 updates + Mobile logger.

Hey all, been awhile, I've been heads down on building a mobile logger, but more of that at the end of this post and the video!

I have some updates across B58 Gen 2 / S58. I had N55/S55 updates but ran into some issues so need some more time to make sure the thousands of added tables are good quality.

-----------------------------------
S58
Added tables across Display, Cooling & thermal, Oil, Launch Control, Fuel, Ignition, Boost, Engine Speed, Limits, Component Protection, Torque, Throttle, Airpath, Gearbox, Lambda, Exhaust, Cooling, Torque Converter, Idle speed targets, Load, Per-gear torque caps, and Vanos.

143206
5,461 tables. 3,226 added

146E06
4,339 tables, 2,168 added

143C05
3,943 tables, 2,457 added

144606
3,334 tables, 2,235 added

145007
3,689 tables, 2,228 added

145A05
3,884 tables, 2,183 added

148205
4,243 tables, 2,172 added

148706
3,337 tables, 2,176 added

14C808
3,655 tables, 1,332 added

0A6405
2,795 tables, 1,460 added

0A8205
2,753 tables, 1,484 added

0A8C05
2,750 tables, 1,484 added

-----------------------------------

B58 Gen 2
Major updates across all software IDs. Hundred of tables. (Honestly I lost track and forgot to log them)

-----------------------------------

Tuning Tools iOS mobile logger

Fully working on iOS. MHD Wifi OBD2 dongle + ENET wired.

On my personal Gen 2 B58, I have over 1,000 channels across DID and RAM. RAM channels have been a journey as I have very few A2L's and don't even have the A2L's for my personal cars.

So... necessity is the mother of invention and I have created a great strategy to find RAM offsets across software ID's. It has worked to find over 400 RAM channels for my personal 2023 M240i test vehicle. Some really cool stuff way above and beyond current offerings.

I am opening Test Flight beta testing with a select group of B58 Gen 2 and S58 test users soon. (Please DM me if you want to help) Going into this Beta testing there is already over 600 DID channels and over 300 RAM channels for each software ID across both those platforms.

B58 Gen 1. Don't worry, you are next. Currently over 600 DID and 300 RAM channels as well.

Check out the video walkthrough, it's a recording of it actually really working, you will notice the audio of my car running in the background. Still working through a bunch of bugs (Keen eyes will notice some in the video). This weekend I am testing full Dragy Pro integration for combining track lap timing and you street racer 1/4 mile and 60-130 bros + DME logging, all in one log!

Remember, I am building this for me, and all of you. Gatekeepers be damned.
