Upshifting automatically in Manual Mode

I've searched for this one and I did not come up with much.

Twice now, on the highway, I am in 6th gear around 3k rpm and I ease on the throttle, boost builds, and the car shifts into 7th while I am in manual mode. Then it's stuck in 7th for a period of time.

Is this just some sort of failsafe because of excess torque the trans is seeing at that speed/rpm?

it's a 2020 and I am currently on the e50 tune.

just the paddles... gave it a little juice to make a pass and it kicked up. This morning it let me shift again much sooner than when it happened a few days ago.

My friends car had a similar issue on the dyno, would go into 7th and stay there.

Apparently clearing the engine codes fixed it for him and they were able to do a couple of runs, he was on a Jb4 with a catless dp.

If you just use the paddles it’s still in auto, pull the shifter over to the left if you want manual shifting…

LOL... i am not confused. The shifter is to the left, in manual mode, when this happens.

JK, there's a tune or something that prevents this from happening. I was reading about it a few weeks ago here. IDK if it was an MHD or BM3 thing.

xHP trans tune now has a "True Manual" mode. that leave the car in gear until you shift it. Ive never noticed mine shifting out of gear touching the limiter, but i have seen on here people claim their cars does.... Ive also never let it sit on the limiter either to check if my car eventually would shift.

It's flashed with xHP stage 3. This happened in low RPM right around 3k and nowhere near the limiter.

This describes exactly what’s happening about half way through the article. With that, my apologies for not search correctly! Haha

I’m going to try limiting the torque in 6th with xHP and see if that bandaids it for now.
