Has anyone had any issues with the USB port losing power randomly. I have it constantly connected to my dash cam and it randomly shuts off while I'm driving. To turn the port back on, I have to turn the car off and on. It doesn't happen everyday, it's super random. I was thinking of taking it to the dealer for warranty, but since I installed an Android MMI (installed a year ago) idk if they'll refuse warranty. It shouldn't affect warranty IMO, but yall know how dealers are.

Has anyone had any issues like this? Any ideas?

It may be overheating going into thermal mitigation. Chances are the FW is idiotic and won't turn itself on after cooling down. Only option being power cycling...

Usb isn’t ment to power a dash cam (like previously stated above; could be thermal or just amp draw protection). Dealership would turn you away. Correctly power the dash cam.

Makes sense. I guess I can just buy a new port for the lighter. Thanks!

Just properly install the dash cam.
It's a Garmin dashcam mini. It came with a USB port already but it arrived dead, hence why I had it on the car's USB. I can even power it from a portable battery, since it's pretty low powered. The battery's 10,000mAh, and the charge lasts almost a week with the dashcam connected.

I had a tiny LED USB light plugged in for a while and had a similar experience. Every now and then it would just stop shining for no good reason. Probably just a piss poor USB implementation in the car.. like the wireless charger. ?‍♂
