Maybe the original dealer was in Portland.

Port/dealer repairs sold as new with no history is fairly common on new cars.

This is why I never trust the dealer and check the car with my own eyes prior to delivery.
~ I passed on a new car sitting on the showroom floor with only 25 miles.

I use a paint gauge on all of my cars before buying. Most Supra panels read 5-6 mils and the rear quarter panel was reading 10 mils. Clearly a respray.

After pulling back some of the trim... the tail tail signs were there. Tape line and remnants of compound.

I truly believe the dealer had no clue (most likely a port repair if I had to guess). The repair and finish looked near perfect.

In an odd way your car getting vandalized was actually a blessing. At least you found out now verses 6 months from now. Who knows how it would have played out later? I suspect your State's consumer laws played greatly into this. It's great your dealer is making you whole on the deal. Good luck finding another car.

~ Yes ... here’s a link to one.

For $100 or so... they are a great tool to have.

A friend is a Paint-less Dent Removal guy. He has accounts at new and used dealers. The number of of new cars that have previous paintwork would surprise most people. Paint gauges have gotten cheaper and better. No reason for a car enthusiast not to own one today. A paint gauge is the best $100 anyone can spend if they buy cars.

CarMax uses a paint gauge with every assessment or potential purchase.

LOL I remember arriving at the dealership and the salesman telling me about you doing this. ???. Smart man.
~ Yes 1st Tungsten Silver one was a local car with paintwork. ? Noted.

Hence the reason I had to drive 60 miles to the closet dealer for a flawless Tungsten example in Beavercreek, Ohio... where you bought your A91. ?

The craziest thing was the blue painters tape treatment given prior to 1.5 hour drive the car home to assure a chip free return ... until I could apply the clear bra / ppf.

Yeah I have issues. ???

I wish I did that, now I need to respray a bumper before PPF, and only 3 months of owning it SMH. how long did that take to do, 2-4 hours is my guess

I am surprised you didn’t get pulled over for headlight/turn signal violation. Lol instead of using the blue tape, you could of use the collision tape that’s is 100x faster. It comes in bigger sheets and is clear. Blue tape is good for taping just the front bumper or etc.

~ Just over an hour and half. My buddy and I tag teamed.

No issues driving it home... Pulled the tape within 2 hours of applying ... chip free as hoped. Well worth the time to me. ?
