Probably because 7k in 6th would be 170mph+I'm confused as well, i was almost certain 6th gear is our 1:1 .. Pulled this up from the interwebz

Is there some other reason to do it in 5th instead of 6th? Or is 6th not actually 1:1 ?
5th is around 134mph
People get too hung up on gears on dynos. As long as the operator always uses the same gear it doesn't matter. When I was operating a dyno, I would not use the high 1:1 gear because it puts too much stress and heat on the car without the right amount of airflow. Unless you have a crazy $$$$$$ dyno cell with airflow that can replicate 150mph worth of air, it's not worth it.
It's as retarded as M340's that come with narrow tires.. looks like a 1990 Nissan Sentra.
