I've got a couple parts ordered, Armaspeed carbon fiber air intake, FTP charge pipe. Planning on adding JB4 and AA catted downpipe.

My plan is to install the intake and charge pipe after break-in (1200 miles), then drive for a couple hundred miles to make sure everything's OK. I know the charge pipe isn't totally necessary on stock boost, but I want to make sure it doesn't cause problems before adding JB4.

After intake and charge pipe, I want to add JB4 and see how the car drives with a tune for a while.

After JB4 I want to add the downpipe. Would I need a new tune after the DP? Or with the limited capabilities of the JB4 does it not really matter?

Does my timeline here make sense? I'm new to modding cars, so before you tear into me, I drove a Tesla before I traded in for my Supra. Just trying to learn hahaha

Custom tuning after a downpipe can be advantageous for performance, but it is not required. That said: it is considered wise to withhold custom tuning until you're done installing power adders. This ensures you get the most from those components. You can run one of the prebuilt tunes on the JB4 in the meantime.

Ah. So use one of the built-in maps, then get a custom one after downpipe? Makes sense! Thanks for your input.

You’ll for sure want map 6 custom tuning by @Jesse DaBears to get maximum power / safety.

Do you plan to eblend / spray wm50?

I'd probably stay away from adding ethanol (don't want to push the B48 too hard, it's my daily driver) but wm sounds interesting for its cooling applications

Good thinking. The JB4 fools sensors so is NOT the best way to go about pushing an FI engine. I mean.. unless you have a nice, fat wallet :D

JB4 is appealing to me because I can just reset to Map0 if I need to take it in for service.

That being said, if I have an aftermarket DP then maybe a piggyback wouldn't be the biggest concern hahah

If you take it in for servicing, they will most likely see the JB4 installed before noticing it's on a different map. And yeah... the DP would get ya first anyway haha.

IMO, adding all those parts and running on a stock ECU is safer than a JB4 if you plan to push the car. If just putting around town, it should be okay, though.

Well I was hoping to do both honestly. Would be interesting to post a Google Form here and see what people are running and for how long, any issues, etc.
