Where are you folks mounting your Concealed Valentine One Display?

From what I am seeing, I have two mounting points that wont really damage anything.

1) On the left side of the steering wheel, on the air vent. Any damage from sticky or physical mounting can be undone by buying another vent.
2) On the steering wheel column itself, but worried this could interfere with telescoping or wires hanging.

I do not want to mount it on the dash with any type of adhesive, as it appears this area is kind of sensetive from other folks post about suction cups on the dash.

I am planning on using the concealed display so the detector does not show active for people behind me.

In my other car, I have the concealed display affixed between the windshield and A-pillar.

Any thoughts/pics?

Are detectors illegal in Chicago? Can people actually see the detector from behind if you have tint 20-30% tint? Figure they would need to be very close AND in a car lowest enough to have the angle to see it which maybe a police car will be low enough but doubt it for an SUV.

This obviously doesn't answer your question I'm just curious why to go this route I have blendmount + uniden r8 which doesn't bother me in terms of vision at all and I know the valentine is a bit sleeker/smaller.

No, they are not Illegal in Illinois (I think that is VA and D.C.), and even if they were I would still have it.

I didn't tint this car either for once - its already hard to see out of it as it is :)

I just always like to keep my line of sight on the road in front of me...and used to it from my old car so would like to keep the user experience the same.

I finally installed mine today.

I used instructions from this thread:
https://www.supramkv.com/threads/radar-detector-laser-jammer-installation.2040/page-4#post-73858

I didn't buy a tape a fuse, I just got a new fuse for the empty 47 slow and wrapped the positive wire around the fuse terminal - did this in my other cars and has worked for years.

Just ran wire to the detector and then the other wire for the concealed display down across bottom of car and mounted the display to the vent - if the vent gets messed up I can buy another one - they are cheap.

I used foam and double sided tape along with a zip tie. I put some small foam against the interior trim A pillar -I was thinking it might rub, and didn't want to see it damaged.

I like the concealed display because your detector goes dark and you can shut it up or change modes on it from the display - This is how it is mounted in my other car so the continuity of use is great.

I hope this helps someone..pics below.

Looks good.

Am I the only one who thought this was going to be about where you keep your concealed carry?

My Uniden R7 mounted quite nicely thanks to the help from kind members of this forum. I purchased the hard wire kit and wired to the 47 spot in the passenger fuse box.
No worries here in "free" Florida with law enforcement as detectors are legal.
Don't get me wrong, I don't use it to speed, just to be aware. ✌
