Is a Toyota that can take on the R35 GT-R shitting in the nest of the upcoming LC-F??

I'd love to see a lightweight hardcore Toyota taking on the GT-R, even if I can't afford it for 20 years (like my JZA80 funnily enough)

the LC-F is supposed to cost around $150k, so nah it's not even close. at that point, prestige and raw numbers are a big part of the price even if it's not killer on lap times. think new NSX for pretty much all intents and purposes. Barely any faster than the GTR and yet costs $50k more.

will it be faster? yeah it pretty much has to be, but it doesn't have to be all that crazy to slot in against the competition.

Time will tell

Motor Authority:
"For the Supra, expect multiple powertrain options just like with past generations. The most potent is expected to be a hybrid setup leveraging technology used in Toyota's successful TS050 Hybrid LMP1 race car from the World Endurance Championship. It's possible we'll see a turbocharged 6-cylinder working in conjunction with one or more electric motors in a range-topping Supra"
..just use logic, what is the cheapest performance hybrid out there? NSX..it uses 3 electric motors for an additional 79 HP and god knows how much weight...we aren't going to see significant hybrid performance for under 6 figures for quite some time, let alone $60 K. The recent GR Super Sport concept is supposed to be a $1 mill car with the LMP1 tech..

awesome cheers... good to know. My lack of understanding of US/global price points means I get easily confused with this stuff... The base LC500 is 200k here - just like an R35

R35 is 110k USD last I checked and LC500 is like 105k USD IIRC, so yeah I can see how that would end up being confusing.

I've also heard things like the 86/BRZ being equivalent to ~50k USD in parts of europe and what not, which is CRAZY.

Thankfully the 86 was starting at $30k AUD here, once car we actually didn't get screwed on in terms of price.

yeah, that's actually really good and more in line with pricing in Asia/Japan. We pay an easy 4-5k over that, in equal terms

That quarter panel is so curvy
The quarter panel does look promising. It also explains why they tried so hard to hide it on the prototype with that odd camo panel drilled into the side.
I did this awhile back, but I think this is how the prototype would look without the body cladding on the quarter panel.

Yeah, here in South Africa they are only offering the GT86 in one trim - the one with the 4 pot Brembo brakes and sport suspension and at the current exchange rate, it equates to USD 48 500... (ZAR 563 000)
