How long does it take? I’ve had 2 oil changes: the first was all day and they gave me a loaner; the second one took 2 days because they didn’t have the right oil.

What is your experience with how long it takes (assuming they have the oil)?

I had an appointment, took probably 90 minutes or so. I walked around the other dealerships in the area so it went by relatively quick.

One of the funny things I noticed is they don't have the Supra listed in their computer. So my paper work says that an oil change was done for a Toyota 86 lol.

Call ahead the parts department and have them order/hold 6 quarts of the GR supra 0w-20 oil.

After confirmation schedule your oil change making sure they put the Gr Supra branded oil, not the standard toyota 0w-20 oil

You folks are brave. It's a simple job anyone can do at home with simple car guy tools.

Isn’t it 7 quarts?

See, you folks are brave! Some dealers can't even get the unit of measure right.. = nerve racking = excess cookie consumption..

For some reason it is listed under GR Supra. Took my dealership a few minutes to figure it out

The free oil change is not worth the hassle. Why bother when you can do it at home in 20 mins.

Plus you’re just being a guinea pig since most service departments haven’t worked on Supras yet.

But.. how do you get the system updated to indicate that the oil was changed.
For warranty purposes, your oil change should be recorded in the Toyota computer system, right?

you have to reset the engine oil reminder through the dash. As far as warranty, just keep itemized receipts of the oil and filter you purchased

Keep a log, receipts and photo's. That’s all you need for a warranty. Its a misconception you need vehicle serviced at dealership to honor warranty claims.

I don’t know about you or anyone else, but I personally do not and am not going to keep photos of me doing oil changes on my car lying around.

also, Toyota will most definitely use that as an excuse to not have to warranty a job if something gets pinned on oil.

sure you can get away with it on a Camry or sienna. Those are bread and butter cars, the Supra makes them very little to no money at all. So they won’t want to pay for anything.

I know oil changes take time to do and I’d definitely do it if I lived in a rural area where everything is far, but if you live close to a dealership you can trust, then go get it done there.
