Hey guys, I closed my trunk after taking some stuff out and the latching didn't sound normal -- I tried to reopen it with both the release button on the door as well as the fob and the trunk is staying locked. No "trunk unlocked" warning shows up when I turn the car on. I can see that the emergency release handle is hanging off its usual spot when I look through the opening near the cupholders.

Any advice on how to get it open, short of taking it to a dealer or someone else?

Update: Took the car in over the weekend -- the Supra tech told me the latch has no tension whatsoever and is very likely why it is stuck. They weren't able to solve it without Toyota engineering on the line, and have asked me to bring it back in on Thursday to try again.

Hey Roman, which dealership is working on it for you?

-RJM
Magic Toyota -- they have a Supra tech. I got an update this morning. The tech is flying out next week, and they've ordered some replacement parts for the trunk latch, so I'll be taking it back in on Tuesday. I'm bringing the car home for the weekend since it's way too nice not to have it for now.

Hopefully the Supra tech can get it sorted out for you. Agree, nice weather this weekend time to get the cars out and enjoy them.

Been a while, so I thought I'd update you. Parts took a while to come in, and a tech took training to fix the issue. They only got all the parts in yesterday and it took a day to fix. Parts are listed in the invoice.

I've heard a horror story about this latch problem. I hope you don't have a major problem. I read that a guy put a piece of Gorilla tape on his so it won't accidentally get released.

I disconnected battery to work on JB4 and closed the trunk. Not advising this, lol. I could not open it and the seats did not move either. Had son craw in and touch battery terminal as I unlocked

I had Nav issue, it was fixed by dealer reinstalling some software....something about US vs Europe version

I taped it down once I got home. Not taking any risks with it coming loose again.
