It's the last of a list of cars they reviewed. They mention the Supra may have 450 hp.

I'm sure they have sources deep in the auto industry. I bet the 450 hp is the highest trim level from what A7 and these guys are suggesting.Thats great, like how both said I want one sign me up...wonder what there source of 450hp was? Hearing more and more the top trim level will have it...could this actually be true?![]()
It was probably from that TopGear article.Thats great, like how both said I want one sign me up...wonder what there source of 450hp was? Hearing more and more the top trim level will have it...could this actually be true?![]()
Think it will be about 425.I'm sure they have sources deep in the auto industry. I bet the 450 hp is the highest trim level from what A7 and these guys are suggesting.
450 might be too rich for my blood. I'm ok with mid 300s.
Even though I'm double posting, just adding a note that toyota has been pushing their cars and reinventing the wheel for toyota's image. A lightweight, corolla hatchback with manual, sporty handling and more rigidity.450hp, sub 3k curb weight sounds like a GTR killer to me. I really doubt Toyota would ever build such a machine. I’ve been wrong before. So who knows...
Ya I'm actually a really big fan of the new Rav4. Looks great and may consider that if the Supra doesn't tick all the boxes.Even though I'm double posting, just adding a note that toyota has been pushing their cars and reinventing the wheel for toyota's image. Rav4 looks ncie to me and they try adding more power for the camry.
I think they are ready to blow expectations away with a wink to the auto industry that they haven't forgotten their past history.

Yeah, I also don't think Toyota will build a GT-R competitor out of the box. The price alone would not make the MKV Supra a competitor to the R35 GT-R. The R35 GT-R has reached supercar status...and with Nissan's continuous improvement vision for the future of the GT-R, it will most likely get into hypercar territory very soon.450hp, sub 3k curb weight sounds like a GTR killer to me. If this is the case then the partnership with BMW makes more sense and will be more accepting I believe. Although I think 405-425 HP range would be more realistic. Still it would make a competitive bargain compared to the Corvette. And yes could probably compete with the R35 although they may not target it that way.If Toyota has any plans at all to make the MKV Supra a competitor to the R35, then the 450hp+, 2900lb, DCT, and $55k pricetag rumors need to not only be true, but the technology needs to be proven.
No flipping way all that will be coming in for 55k. A supra doing that for 55k would be breaking the auto industry as it would be almost supercar territory, without paying the premium. If this is the case then the partnership with BMW makes more sense and will be more accepting I believe. That's exactly why I am very doubtful that the MKV Supra will be a GT-R competitor. Even if they price it at $100k, 450hp+, 2900lbs, DCT, etc... it still won't be a competitor to the GT-R. What most people fail to realize, is just how much R&D has gone into and continues to go into the GT-R. If Toyota builds a Supra that competes with the GT-R, they will only be playing catch-up, as the next gen GT-R is already in the works and is targeting half-million dollar hyper cars. Nissan has a very different mindest than Toyota when it comes to spending money on motorsports...they do it regardless of budget. That might be why they have had financial issues in the past, but Nissan has always been committed to building sports-cars....and their sports-cars sell! The biggest appeal to me about Nissan (today) is that they don't collaborate with their sports cars....they really haven't in the past either. When I say collaborate, I don't mean bringing in Lotus to tune the suspension, or Yamaha to develop the cylinder head. I mean, they don't collaborate with another car maker to make cookie-cutter sports cars. I have always been opposed to this, because the end results are always 50/50. This is why the more I hear about the MKV Supra, the more I feel like going all in on the R35 GT-R. However, the wait is not long....Toyota deserves a chance too, so i'll wait it out a bit longer before signing papers with Nissan. No flipping way all that will be coming in for 55k. Might be the new nsx, that we always wanted .
