Hey guys, first post here, just got my account approved.
Just bought a 2020 Launch Edition last Wednesday, 11/03 from a Toyota dealership, and I have already purchased a Catless Downpipe (arrived earlier today), but during lunch I was reading through the forums and the Brake Recall now locks the ECU from being tuned? I ran my VIN through toyotas website, and there is no open service bulletin, and last chance was 11/2/21 - so that means my brake recall has been completed. I have a MHD wireless adapter from my prior F chassis BMW 335i, is there any app I can use to remotely check if my ECU is locked? If not, I live in Charlotte, NC, are there any well known shops around here for supras? Thanks!

Lift the ecu up and check the ECU label for the manufacture date. That will give you an idea if its unlockable.

The 2020’s aren’t locked in the way the 2021’s and up are so you will be able to tune using whatever method you please.

for some reason my eyes targeted the 2021 part of the original post. your 2020 is tunable but may need an unlock.

DOwnload MHD for F/G series app since you have the dongle already. and read codes. post the screenshot. that will tell us the ROM ID.

It's a 2020 and has had the brake recall completed, that means it's tunable but will require a bench unlock first.

That's it. I'm making a macro. Literally. Today's the day.

All launch edition cars had ECU hardware that is tunable, however if the brake recall has been done that means you will need to have a bench unlock performed in order to tune the car. Luckily a bench unlock isn't to incredibly expensive and is a pretty easy procedure. Assuming you want to go with MHD for the Supra tune, which I highly recommend because I'm MHD tuned and have nothing but good things to say, you will need a different MHD adapter for your Supra, it's the MHD "Black" Adapter F/G Chassis adapter that can be purchased from this page! https://burgertuning.com/products/mhd-wireless-obdii-wifi-flash-adapter?variant=30318091141235

Also you're in luck, there are some great shops decently close to you that are very experienced on the A90 supra platform. The shop I recommend is CES Motorsport in Monroe NC. I drove 10 hours round trip from Savannah GA and they performed a bench unlock on my 2021 Supra as well as sold me one of their in-house designed Catless Downpipes, installed the downpipe for me, flashed the first MHD OTS 93 Octane Stage 2 map for me, dynoed my car two times with just the Catless downpipe and then another two times with the stage 2 OTS Map. Then John, the owner of CES, told me to sit in my Supra in the passenger seat and he physically showed me how to go through the MHD App and change any settings I wanted to change, how to flash custom tunes, how to use the datalogger tool and send a datalog file, pretty much every little aspect of the program. The guys over at CES are great to work with and as for shops near you I couldn't recommend them more!
