Ah yeah, with that oil weight, he'll be burning 32bitsofOil every few miles lol, gotta up the weight haha
off to add my fifth quart, 5.1k miles since I bought it. Still within spec I guess ??‍♂

I’ll post the last two warnings here and the mileage in case anyone is keeping track.

I thought the max oil consumption was 1 quart every 1500 miles?

Change your oil weight, you're breaking my heart.

This is the plan, once I hit 10k I will swap it over.
Am I misreading the manual? The only oil weight they list in there under pages 297-298 "Suitable engine oil types" is the GR branded 0W-20 (which I find ridiculous on it's face, but yet there it is). Under "Alternative engine oil types" it says you can add up to 1 quart/liter of other oil ratings if the suitable oil isn't available. I don't see where, as others here have repeatedly suggest, the manual says changing to a different oil is ok. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Why 10k? You end up doing more damage my guy.
@SD_MK made me change my oil right when I hit 1,200mi.
I can't thank him enough to have helped me. So far...so good for me in my 2022 and I hope it stays that way.

Yeah that's what it says for sure. I was in the same boat as you when people started saying you can run full 30wt oil its ok it says it in the manual. I was like it says you can run up to one quart of 30 wt.

Thanks for confirming that for me. I'm getting older, but I still felt like my reading comprehension was at least passable. LOL!

Admittedly I haven't gone back through to make sure this wasn't posted already, but I thought it might be helpful to some if I shared this rather informative video talking about the oil sensor that we all rely on instead of a dipstick. Please ignore the clickbait title.

No no no no @mokleen , he mean't that he wants to hit spending 10k on a new motor when his cyl walls become all scored up.

Your Warranty is 3 Years, right? If there really is a problem, @32bitsofGil would be covered for a new motor anyway. Many of us don’t have oil consumption issues with the oem spec oil, so there’s no reason to think that a 30 weight oil is the only solution.

his oil consumption is on the high side, but could be other factors at play. Regardless, putting a heavier oil might just mask a real underlying issue and then he could be out of warranty before it’s discovered. Or allows Toyota to void a claim.
