Thank you, femotoevo! This conversation, about the possibilities, the CLONE, the UNLOCK, send to Russia, wait, etc..... has been so limited. Having the people (femtoevo) actually clarify the situation, makes it all easier to understand. Thank you, again.
How as it been limited? I've been spelling out -everthing- for like 6 months.

Easy man. I'm new at all of this. I have seen people asking questions, giving answers, celebrating different options/changes, etc....while others have "spelled it out" and been consistent. That said, as a new member, and having ZERO experience tuning, I find it EXTREMELY helpful for the words to actually come from the people doing the work. For a neophyte, forum posts from people you don't know, have to be viewed with some skepticism. This is 'straight from the horses mouth', so to speak.

That's fair, FWIW- I've gone through all of this and more.
We are still insisting, that 2 terms are required:
1. Custom tuning
2. Full custom tuning with bells and whistles
Option 1 is already available, while option 2 is not.
I can update the site because you're (obviously) accurate.

With the Femto unlock - you have full access to the calibration area.

1. Nothing wrong with an OTS map. They're good.

2. You have a messaging problem from your tuning friends. If you look at the post from MHD above, it specifically mentions all the steps needed for OTS tunes. It doesn't say anything about custom maps being supported. It also implies there's a limitation because they can only flash the calibration area. The post continues by saying that if you want ALL the MHD features, then you still need to do a DME clone.

2a. And that last point is the real "problem." Unless you clone the DME to an unlocked 2020 unit, you still don't have access to the advanced integration features like port injection, flex fuel, rolling anti-lag, map switching. MHD says it right in their post above, The MHD and BM3 flashes without the clone can support a custom map, but you're still locked out of major features.

Protuningfreaks said the same thing on Instagram: calibration data = YES (custom map), but advanced Custom ROM features that alter other DME functionality = NO.

And this, to me, is not full custom tuning. If the unlock allows me to upload a custom map but I'm still locked out of all the major tuning platform features that a 2020 could have, or could be unlocked with a cloned DME, then this is not the same level of custom tuning.

Full custom tuning is available from MHD, BM3, and MG flasher for anyone with a FEMTO unlock. This has always been the case.

Yes companies offer OTS maps. OTS maps is a generalized custom tune so to speak.

I'm not sure why a custom tune isn't a custom tune without map switching or flex fuel. I'm not understanding your logic behind that statement.

Map switching, flex fuel and things of that nature, are not native logic in the factory programming. all that is a bonus from people behind the scenes writing custom ecu code. But having those features or the lack thereof, doesn't dictate whether a tune is a "custom" tune.

I can count on one hand how many times I've used mapswitching on my car. Haha.

But yes. .as @femtoevo stated and @zrk stated. Custom tuning is available on MHD, BM3, and MGflasher through myself and many other tuners on this platform. I think people forger that this platform started with MHD and BM3. Smh

My logic is that I don't agree it's a "full unlock" or a "full tune" when the provided service is missing all the special features or integrations available to a 2020 or DME clone. What you call a "bonus" I consider essential functionality, especially CAN integrations. To me, that is of equal importance to supporting custom maps.

I also believe it's pretty disingenuous that all these vendors are running around saying "OMG 2021 UNLOCKED WITHOUT CLONING" but not trying very hard to disclose the steep limitations: you're not getting any of the special features 2020 or DME clone enjoys. Valuable features for simple power adders like flex fuel. It just feels like word games and it doesn't sit right with me that there isn't a lot more clarity about what you're not getting if you cough up a big chunk of change for this type of unlock.

I'm not assuming malice or predatory activity, here. But I am concluding that tune platforms and vendors are assuming an awful lot if they conclude that users can broadly draw the distinction that "custom tune" doesn't mean "you get all the features." I would wager most don't get it.

Look like you've made a decision for all users. This sounds like "When I say "fly on a plane" I mean a private jet with blackjack and *, not some pathetic scheduled flight."

You should separate levels of "customness", because not everybody wants to ride on a wacky wheels, with parachutes and some kind of similar stuff, someone just want to get their car tuned to run faster than stock without bothering much. Please give them such opportunity, don't speak for all that there's "no custom tunes" because this not quite true.

PS: We do not want to offend anyone, just trying to clarify some things :)
And yes, we are telling people that they won't get some of the "special" features exclusive to any of the flasher platforms, and guess what? They are ok with it.
FWIW - I updated the site to be more clear about what's available and what isn't.

The headline still stands.

All good information. However I'm good with both versions of custom tuning/OTS, but I'm not sending my DME to Russia. So until that's fixed all this is irrelevant. There are many people in the same camp. How about having a USA Femto unlocking service. Alot of people are waiting on this.

Then just keep waiting. I asked @femtoevo a while back when they were making a trip across the pond, and they basically ‘lol no’d’ me. Which is legit af. They don’t want to bring it her, just sit and wait-- maybe forever. Or send your ECU to Russia. It’s fast and easy.

Or don’t. I don’t care. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You'll be waiting for a while if not indefinitely then.

I reached out to @femtoevo some time ago about being their stateside base for unlocking. But they declined and I completely understand why and don't blame them for wanting to safeguard their tech.

Maybe that will change. But chances are it won't.
