From what I remember is, Toyota saying something that GRMN will be in Japan and in the states TRD would still be used. Since TRD is already known here in the states. This was when GR was first talked about. Now if that happens or not, I dont know. It will be interesting to see, to say the least.

Give me the RZ, white, red interior, black wheels, carbon lip, and 400hp+ please Toyota.

How can anyone even expect an iron block? What the car needs is a closed deck crankcase with twin-wire arc-sprayed coating in the cylinders.

Most people seem to hate BMW engines but keep in mind 700+ WHP N54s (aluminum block, open deck) are pretty common. People are pushing the S55 (aluminum block, closed deck) to low 10 second quarter miles and 700+ WHP on just full bolt ons and turbo upgrades with E85 or meth.

I'm hoping the sz-r and RZ have the same engine, only difference is trim and luxury stuff. So much easier to add power than pull weight without compromising the vehicle.

It's been all but confirmed that for true, reliable, long term strength, that an iron block has been chosen from the bmw range.

Yes the newer aluminium blocks are fantastic - new RS3 engine anyone - bit for long term reliability and strength the best option is old school.

Weight manages to find its way into trim levels pretty easily these days.

For example, let's look at the Lexus IS, the base model was the IS250, which had a 2.5L V6 that weighed in at about 370 lb. The top model was the IS F, the 5.0L V8 weighed in at about 500 lb for a difference of 130 lb. The car overall though, IS250 curb weight: 3435 lb, IS F curb weight: 3780 lb; a difference of 345 lb.

There are other components that are going to change between trim levels that add weight beside the engine (brakes, transmission, differential, optional items like power seats, etc.).

I suspect the SZ/SZ-R/RZ grade levels won't get marketed as such in North America either. Probably something lamer. They were Japan-only grades on the A80 anyway. We'll probably get something catchy like "Turbo".

now that this information has apparently been dispersed to marketing teams worldwide, some of the new info circulating is as follows (subject to change but unlikely):

SZ - 4cyl
SZ-R - 6cyl, 3070lbs
RZ - 6 cyl 3350lbs

starting price for SZ still appears to be $40,000USD
Is the difference between the SZ-R and RZ strictly weight? Or are we talking substantial power upgrade for the RZ? I know you probably can't directly answer this, but It's worth trying lol

Always good insights, Jeff, and I suspect you may be right as we look to the past for trends.

Even the A70 had completely different trims in the US vs Japan and elsewhere.
I know this has been spoken about a lot on here, but have we gotten any confirmation on whether this is strictly going to be a 2 seater, or will 2 + 2 be available? From the mule shots, I know we've all gathered that there's not much room for rear seats, but hoping that there will be a chance for it.
