Driving a car with a polka-dot rock chip front end < *I was quoted $2,100 for all the high impact areas. Decided that I’d lose less than on depreciation with whatever road rash I get.
PPF can get beat up, too, so you still see some road rash in the meantime even if you’re sparing the car’s paint for later.
Not knocking those who get it, but just saying that it’s not always an expense that one recoups. I acknowledge enjoyment of a pristine paint job is worth it for some.
Admittedly, I haven’t owned a color that really shows chips like black.Driving a car with a polka-dot rock chip front end < *
But do you, fam lol.
Ohh no what happened in order to get to this point?I took off my manifold to see how bad the damage was..... The metal doesn't stop![]()

It went boom.Ohh no what happened in order to get to this point?
Lmao @mokleen hahahhahahaGot the car rinsed off and actually washed after yesterday's shenanigans in the mountains. There's more damage than I thought, 6 rock chips in the bumper that went through the paint and is exposing plastic, with a few more chipping paint. Windshield was absolutely peppered and worse than I expected, no actual chips but plenty of cratering.
Take this as a warning for those who have been putting off PPF, get it done before any real serious driving...
Sigh.
Damn, we literally have the same exterior mod for mod just different colors. ?I finally broke down and swapped out the stock tires. Fallen Azenis RT660 in 265/35/19 and 295/35/19, stock wheels, HKS Hipermax adjustable springs. I was running FC 12/15mm spacers on the stock tires, but that was too much on the rear with the 295s so I had to pull them off. I’m still running the 12mm in the front, the tires poke out just a bit, and with no spacers in the rear the tires tuck just a bit. I’ve ordered a set of FC 5mm spacers for the rear which I think will make it perfect. I may also swap the 12mm in the front to 5mm to pull them back in a tad, not sure yet.
No rubbing to speak of so far, everything feels good.

Well duh, but like, how? Did he suck up a water puddle? Did he go moon boost and kaboom? Was he running open intake, no filter, and a bird flew through a potentially open headlight meant for air intake? Was it a stock setup, lightly modified, highly modified, extremely modified, etc etc? Deets are important sometimes bruh!It went boom.
I'd say.. somewhere between lightly and highly modified.. 'Medium modified.' His setup is (was) stock bottom end, pure 850, port/reflex, EOS manifold, axles, and Pure transmission. Fuel at the time was E98, unclear as to exactly what happened other than a rod went to the moon on a log pull. Blew apart at ~33/34psi, which is well within whats "safe."
