What the hell this guy just toss it in reverse for? Hope you get it fixed quickly man.
His reasoning, he wanted to be in the left lane vs the center. It’s big enough to squeeze by and make a right if he was a considerate driver, but as you can see, not dealing with the brightest bulb in the batch.

This hurts to watch!! At least you're not in Cali. Dude would likely make a claim that you rear-ended him because your car struck the rear of his. And, even with the video, they'd probably side with him.

Still hurts to watch

That makes me feel better. I thought it was just some sort of scam. I can accept incompetence but not malice I guess lol

Dude, I came out the car kinda hot but when I saw him, I chilled out. I was expecting a scammer for sure. If he was trying to scam, he switched his tune as soon as I got out which I’m ok with. Insurance swapped, now it’s in their hands.

So i found the PN,

US:
52119-WAA02 (base)
52119-WAA06 (p sensors holes)

but the bumper you want i think is 52119-WAA01.. idk, let's verify with @FuzzyRev85
Thanks man, I'll take this with me when I go to the shop and tell them what I want done. Do body shops have issues with ordering non OEM parts? Like, will they give me push back on it?

what's the best dash cam to get?
There are a ton of options. I originally got one of the Chinese ones from Amazon, and it worked well for about a year, but after that the internal battery died. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, it would just mean it can't keep recording after power is shut off. The problem is that the video files are named using the timestamp, and with the dead battery the internal clock resets every time the power is cut, which means every time it starts up it records to the same filename and just keeps overwriting the same file over and over, which means there's no history.

After I figured all of that out I threw it away and got a Garmin. It's about 3x the price of the Chinese one, but doesn't cheap out on the battery or the firmware so it actually lasts for more than a year. Whatever you get, you should aim to spend at least $150 or so, don't cheap out if you want it to last. The automotive environment is very harsh on electronics.

I want to install one but I want one in parking mode as well and it seems so complicated on this car
The Nextbase cameras have small batteries in them - enough for a few minutes of parking mode recording. They lose their change in standby after a couple of days, but if you keep your car in a garage and just want parking mode while you’re out, this could be an option.

With the hardwire kit, I think it took around 5 minutes to install using the front fuse panel. One wire to the fuse tap, one to a ground point, push the cable under the trim going to the dashcam - that’s it.

What fuse did you use? I was under the impressions all power was cut after 7 minutes

Dash cams with internal batteries don’t do well in hot climates; batteries can explode. Better cameras use capacitors as they can withstand high temperatures. BkackVue, Thinkware, and probably others, make backup batteries specifically for parking mode.

See this thread for fuse and installation instructions:

BTW, I was able to run wires in the trunk area by lifting some of the panels instead of removing them.
