The screaming of the automotive-press-purists. Then the reality of a 30% take rate and going slower than the ZF-8. Thats the reality but 'engagement' bro??!!!! LOLThis new MT edition will be prob around 90k lol. Man, just to drive a stick. What has the world come to.

Yeah, "engagement bro". Some people, myself included, find driving a manual transmission to be (*gasp!*) engaging and dare I say it.... a lot of fun. I daily a twin disc clutch equipped 2JZ-GTE car. It is NOT by any means faster than modern performance cars but it sure is fun to drive. The screaming of the automotive-press-purists. Not surprising. It would cost more to keep both the older console design and the new one set up for the M/T in production at the same time. Make it the standard for both M/T and A/T cars and keep that much more cost down overall.![]()
Interestingly, the auto gets the updated centre console too

If I could afford to have an A90 as a track car, it'd be the ZF8 all the way. Sadly, I am stuck with an old track carYeah, "engagement bro". By all means if you don't want a 6MT Supra you have PLENTY of ZF8 automatic Supras to choose from. Buy what makes you happy! To each their own! Some of us are interested in the 6MT models though.
You're missing the entire point if you think everyone who wants a traditional manual transmission in a sportscar that already makes 450hp(ish) stock at the crank is concerned about the ZF8 models being a bit faster to 60mph. The MKV 3.0L is a fast car no matter which transmission you buy it with.
If you want the very fastest model with the most competitive edge on a racetrack then certainly the ZF8 8HP A/T version is what you want. On the street though, and on a personal level it's very subjective. And that's why the transmission option one way or the other is a good thing as long as this generation remains on sale.
If you're focused on competing in class events with your GR Supra I'd have to agree that the ZF8 is the transmission that you want. That said you've got some truly drool-worthy older street/track cars in your sig! I'm sure that old track car is a blast to take out to events! If I could afford to have an A90 as a track car, it'd be the ZF8 all the way. Sadly, I am stuck with an old track car

With the age of electric vehicles on the horizon - I really don't think they're quite ready for prime time yet - this may very well be the last new petrol car I own.. and since manuals aren't a thing in electric cars, buying such a great car with manual transmission is a no brainer really. But MT will soon be gone for good, may as well get one while you can….
It's like a daily reminder you had the option.. but still got the auto. ?![]()

I'm pretty sure the automatic one is a rendering error. Take a look at the 2022 version of this picture. It looks like they took this image, and tried to edit it to look like the 2023 manual image, but edited it in a way that makes no sense. There are black shaded parts that shouldn't be there. And also all the mode buttons are missing.![]()
