Finally lost some weight and made some more interior space for racecar stuff ... Interior is fully stripped and deleted the AC/Heating ... ready for race car cage going a bit extra with the cage because mountains ...

Pics of the stripped interior with the momo seat and quick release wheel
dropped the car off at the fabrication shop to get full cage and safety nets and other equipment put in as well as replacing all the glass with lexan :headbang:

stickers add horsepower I heard still waiting for my toga waifu stickers to show up

So much easier getting in the car now with thequick release

car is going to be black, blue and purple
BhmzbqS.jpg

damn this car and it’s stupid electronics took it all apart and the instrument panel doesn’t work anymore
so worried I was going to run out of gas on my 6 hour drive
peoS4IY.jpg

I found out the airbag sensor is mandatory even without them stupid car wouldn’t move until I plugged it back in took me waaaayyy to long to figure that out, car will lock the rear brakes wont release and no throttle input

car still is being stupid and not locking the doors or responsing to the key fob all the time but whatever the door key works and the car runs sort of
seems like it doesn’t have as much power since I can’t wheelspin smash out of first gear like I want to all the time

Rollcage is installed everything is bare eventually I will do the prep and paint the cage/inside purple but this is not a priority

Going to feel 100% better about ripping around tracks now really did not feel safe at all previously

Still working on my canbus datalogging/track code because im lazy will be adding a small shift light bar into the dash and mounting ipad somewhere for live diagnostic data viewing

Just some more photos from the shop from the cage build - replacing all of the other suspension components and getting back on track soon ....
ok, now that is a proper cage and race car. It is what i want to do with mine if i stay on this platform.
I would love to know how much you both feel a proper cage stiffened the platform (assuming you end up doing this @Rocksandblues). I feel like this chassis is pretty rigid in stock form, but I've also never been in a car pre-/post-cage where I wasn't impressed by how much it stiffened it.

Nice looking cage!

Is this a SCCA compliant cage? Wondering about the front lower bar crossbeam. Seems like it would need to go behind the centerstack somehow. I don't see that in your photos, did you have it done? If so, you mind grabbing a couple pics?

Great chassis. full welded cage can't help but stiffen it up some. Is it measurable in lap times? doubt it.

Mainly safety. You are adding weight to a track car but pretty big safety item IMHO

Right on. Yeah, people have always asked me why I spent so much money on a helmet, etc. I figure if there's one thing I'm going to put money into it's stuff to protect my noggin and accompanying parts. I feel the same way about a cage.

Will be ok for scca - cage was built for nasa st/tt - there is a cross beam that goes above the center just under the dash pretty much all the space you have for it but there is space after removing the dash brace and ac stuff, steering column mounts to it and feels rock solid now with whole quick release setup

Yes this is all for safety rather focusing on being safe first then will add massive power

Lol

people ask me how much they should spend on a helmet and I always say “what is your head worth?”

Love where this build is going. This represents what all of us would love to do with a spare Supra if money wasn’t an issue.

DId my first weekend with the cage and harness setup... Ran buttonwillow cw#25 picked up about 20 seconds from last time i was there

Ran a 2:02 which is not far off my class for time trials and this was the very last session of the weekend so very confident next time will be a consistent sub 2 minute next year in TT

Was the fucking scariest weekend yet missed the capture on footage but crested phill hill into a total blackout dust cloud and hit some debris from a car going off track and losing the bumper and it landing back on track ... and a fucking car exploded in the pits during the enduro jesus fuck was an intense weekend ...

Guess I was a bit of a gremlin on track this weekend accidentally passing under yellow a few times and following way to aggressively ... still learning
