What is with everyone quoting a $65k msrp?

A 340i w/ B58 starts at $48k and you think Toyota is going to come to market at 65?

Every week there was a teaser on Thursday. Dodge had something to make the industry go wild...

What’s the best case scenario with the MkV Supra..

1) 400hp
2) 3.3 seconds to 60mph
3) 3k curb weight
4) 55k msrp
5) manual transmission

What’s mind boggling about even the above optimistic spec ?? Lol

Most probably we will get..
1) 350hp
2) 3.8 - 4.0 seconds to 60mph
3) 3300lb curb weight
4) 65k msrp
5) auto only

Got to compare it with the Z4 prices.

Am I the only one that doesnt want an Iron Block?
Yes, you are the only one...lol.

With an iron block, and the power/strength/reliability potential of an iron block, weight and handling issues will be pretty much non-existent. Also, if you think 500HP is "enough", then you have no idea the power little civics are making nowadays on the street....little...tiny....civics.

It’s Toyota, they don’t remember what it’s like to be excited about anything. The only thing they are excited about is how much money they are going to make on the upcoming Corolla.
Hey! It has a stick...!:bat:

Well yeah, but correct me if I'm wrong. But none of those make anymore power over the normal 86, no? All show and no go?

Back to the Supra. I don't want to sound like a broken record, but the Turbo A80 outsold the NA by a good margin.

http://mkiv.com/specifications/sales_numbers/retail_sales.html

We we're also the second largest market for A80. I think ToyotaUSA would be really stupid by not offering a higher performance Supra.

The grmn had more power. 215 or something, and cost 49k. Had weight reduction and extensive suspension tuning.

pulled these from an interview. all puzzle pieces.

Tetsuya Tada said:
The engine unit inside this Pre-Production was our inline 6 powerplant. A 3.0 Liter Turbocharged unit, if you are curious about numbers. It will be the flagship engine for this car.
Tetsuya Tada said:
As a prideful flagship this will be, it will see continual and incremental development, in small bits for many years. And knowing that, we have designed the base platform and drivetrain to be at a level beyond anything we previously made at Toyota or BMW.

Well, that seems fairly definitive. It would be hilarious if that is indeed the iron block motor lol.

I mean the junior engineer I spoke with before Goodwood told me the new engine would be in the car, but after seeing the engine bay pictures I immediately started doubting everything, especially given I thought we would be getting something totally different looking.

I should just follow their advice and listen only to what they say and stop letting things sway me into disbelief.

Only showing that Toyota can decide what comes and doesn't come into certain markets. And pricing can be...well, ridiculous
Oh I know, I'm still made that we didn't get these.

Kinda is, an 86 with Race spec suspension tuning and 216HP?
Yeah ok... Can't think of any other car you would rather spend $54k on?

may I ask, what did you think we would be getting in terms of looks? is the appearance the main thing that has swayed you?

have your insiders given you any clues to hint that the goodwood car doesn't have the top-spec, CGI block engine?
