that would make me laugh as it would be quite hypocritical for Toyota to share their halo car with BMW but separate their own technology from their luxury lineup...not sure how that logically would make any sense for shareholders...the Lexus 2GR is now in the Highlander, Tacoma & the new Camry and I'm sure the boosted 4 cylinder will come as well..does anyone else recall that interview with a Lexus executive where he said Toyota wants to farther differentiate future Toyota & Lexus by not sharing platforms and powertrains? if true than maybe the LS' V6 TT will just be exclusive to the Lexus line up?
switching notes, heres a review thread with 86 owner moving up to a M240i

i cant seem to find the article anymore, but it was pretty much about how Lexus is trying to shed the "it's a fancier toyota" image.that would make me laugh as it would be quite hypocritical for Toyota to share their halo car with BMW but separate their own technology from their luxury lineup...not sure how that logically would make any sense for shareholders...the Lexus 2GR is now in the Highlander, Tacoma & the new Camry and I'm sure the boosted 4 cylinder will come as well..
i get the argument, but that would be a hilariously tough ask to get through the boardroom especially when they couldnt agree to do the supra project on their own..relatively speaking though the lexus powertrains have usually been a generation ahead of the toyota ones, so technically there are only a handful of examples where toyota/lexus share powertrains during the same time (usually land cruiser & toyota's other trucks/suvs). i think the NA 2GR will be going away at least on the lexus side especially now that the camry has the same v6i cant seem to find the article anymore, but it was pretty much about how Lexus is trying to shed the "it's a fancier toyota" image.
there ain't too much info yet, but while it shares same displacement as the 2GR, this one has completey different bore/stroke..Isn't the 'new' TTV6 just the same old 2GR but with some turbos added? I can't find much info on it.
As HKz said, there isn't a huge amount of information on it. While it is supposed to be a similar 60-degree V6 to the 2GR, it's supposed to be 85.5x100, as opposed to 94x83, which is a relatively huge difference. A 100mm stroke is crazy long, so it's likely going to be a torque monster. Lexus stated 414hp/443lbft but doesn't specify at what RPM. In addition to that, it's a Hot-V configuration, so the exhaust ports are on the inside of the V. This usually results in great turbo response due to short runners and relative compactness, but usually involves some cooling hurdles as well. Overall, it looks like a V6 that's set up to provide torque characteristics more similar to a V8, which makes sense for the LS platform. So, while it may be loosely based on the GR engine design, it most certainly will be a unique engine in the Toyota lineup.Isn't the 'new' TTV6 just the same old 2GR but with some turbos added? I can't find much info on it.
Would make sense as to why we haven't seen anyone from Toyota driving one of the prototypes. It also says they are testing at Toyota's private test track near Mount Fuji.

Unlike its six-cylinder predecessor though, the new M140i will be powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder that will send its power to all four wheels via the company’s xDrive system. This switch will transform the hot 1-Series to a real rival for cars like the Ford Focus RS, the VW Golf R and of course the Mercedes-AMG A45. Power is expected to be up to 400hp.
We've just learned that the new unit is called S58, and as the name suggests, we're dealing with a derivative of the B58 powertrain we find in everything from the M140i hot hatch to the 540i that just came out.
Although new, the engine will only pack 450 to 460 horsepower, about the same as the current M3 with the Competition Pack.
