LOL This is brilliant. Why have I not thought about this already?

Its just like how the 86/BRZ were referred to as the "Toyburu".

The Zupra.... classic :)
Was that the first time you saw that reference? It’s been coined a while back. Even a logo has been made.

I loved my 86. Was brilliant fun at the track. Not the fastest thing ever but it was heaps of fun.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I knew there were faster cars for the money when buying the BRZ on two separate occasions. It truly was a fun car, that even though it lacks power, it requires a driver capable to push it to its limits.

GenV Viper is absolutely a slightly larger Miata. I can go 10/10 anytime and it’ll go exactly where I point it. No drama. C7Z that I have on the other hand is all over the place. Lol
And most importantly, it comes in a manual ONLY. One of the last raw sports car of our time.

Agreed. Pure to the core. I thank God everyday for giving me the opportunity to live at this time and be able to afford it new. One of the best feelings driving that thing right off the show room floor.

Keep in mind that V10 is tried and true. It’s one of the most reliable motors built.

Never sell her/it.

I'm still more curious about how the new Supra is able to have a lower CoG than the 86. The battery placed under the boot/trunk isn't enough to greatly lower the CoG. Maybe a dry sump? But that is quite expensive. Carbon fiber roof?

There is a car that has a really low CoG, it's the Alfa Romeo 4C, but that car is basically a carbon fiber go kart with a car body. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_4C
There probably used the same technologie than the bmw serie 7 for reduce the weight. Alu + some reinforcement in composite fiber.

What leads you to believe they did not?

I mean, let's be logical here and look at the facts so far right (again, based on visual evidence of the Goodwood car):

- BMW Engine, down to the throttle body and wiring. Judging by the Subaru project, Toyota had their hands all over this.
- BMW brake calipers. Okay?
- BMW differential. Okay?
- BMW interior. Do you have Xray vision?
- BMW front & rear suspension. Z4 and Supra handle and ride completely different so it is not like Toyota wasn't hands on in this department either
- Built in Europe in the same factory as the X3 and pre-planned new Z4 (well before the Supra collaboration was a thought). They also make the G-Class so I think this is an irrelevant point.

I am sure I'm forgetting or missing alot more BMW related stuff.

Parts on a car do not make a car what it is. The FRS rolled off of the Subaru line but its still not a Subaru by any means. While we do not know how the Supra feels behind the wheel, it is safe to say Toyota is approaching this car exactly how they did the BRZ/FRS project.
My responses are in red.
Mind you, I am a former N54 owner and still own an E30 so I am not a Toyota fanboy about this conversation

Let's not forget that the A60 suspension was largely interfered with by lotus too :p
Lol! That's not something to brag about...since Lotus's chassis development in the 80's was about as advanced as a plastic straws. It wasn't until the Espirit's and later that people really started outsourcing their useful chassis and suspension engineering (RX-7, GT-R, etc...).

Clearly your not a Toyota fanboy....your very much a BMW one. When BMW owners try and persuade me that their cars are superior, I simply:

I in no way think that a bmw is superior in any way, shape, or form, nor am I saying that the A90 will be inferior to the z4 in its own regard. I am stating that Toyota is equally invested in this as BMW so it is not Toyota buying a car from BMW. Being in both BMW and Toyota groups/forums, I believe that Toyota has a ton of influence with this project, more than what the parts list suggest

I have nothing against the BMW interior, nor am I defending anyone here, however judging by the recent leaks I am fairly sure this is almost at production stage (see below).

Never the less I am really holding out my comments for once I actually drive the car, I really love my MKIV's and I've been eagerly waiting for the MKV, there's a couple of distinct features in the MKIV that I wish Toyota would retain and we wont know until official release if this will be the case.

1. Cockpit like dash setup.
2. Simplicity of the enginebay & easy upgrades to gain high power figures.
3. Beautiful bodyshape (I think this has already been ticked off), I loved the FT1 concept and I don't have any quarms with the camoed version of the Supra prototype.
4. Manual - this is a deal breaker for me, so I have hope that in the future they'll release a high HP version with manual.

Once again, I have nothing against BMW. I am eagerly awaiting the first year release to test drive this car, I really hope other people buy it at the DCT level and enough attention for a manual comes soon enough.

I will say however that I have owned a new 86, I was one of the very few people to own it within the first week of release. Now I know there's a lot of fanbois here, I fucking hated that car full stop, regardless of the 'it has this feature, it's 50:50, it has great handling or whatever anyone says', that car was hands down a peace of shit. I sold it within 6 months of owning it. I will say it's a great car for a teen/hair dresser. That car was way over-hyped on release. I am basing this on my driving experience and the way I felt while owning this car for 6 months, not the text on the pamphlet that was given to me when the car was sold. I think that distracts a lot of people from the actual driving experience these days.

I was referring to that thread when asking if he had xray vision. There are very few items to take note of in these images

The few items we can see do look like bmw parts bin parts such as the iDrive controller and shifter. With that being said, these few items are of the handful that still have time to be fixed before production. And because they have to remain uncovered to drive the car, it does not make sense to use the potential toyota versions considering they knew people would try and take pictures whenever possible.

There are a couple elements that look like the FT-1 like where the center console connects to the dashboard by the drivers knee, and the horizontal indentation following the line of the vents (this could even be A70 inspired on how the vent in front of the passenger extends).

While I do agree the interior does not have same wow factor as the MK4, it is not apparent yet that this feels like a pure BMW interior just because we see an iDrive controller.

I really hope you're right, however were about 6 months away from this car being released. Judging by the image and the time frame left I would honestly say that we might be looking at a very close production level interior for the MKV, so it wouldn't surprise me if this was the production interior with a few tweaks.

Lets just wait and see at release if Toyota delivers something that doesn't utilize the BMW bin parts. It would be a shame if they did IMO. I get that their is a collab between Toyota and BMW but I don't want to see every piece of this car using BMW parts (eg. engine bay, interior, drive-train).
