Why not bm3?
I might stil do BM3, as I understand it, the difference between the 2 is negligible from a feature standpoint on a partial unlock ecu with a pump gas car.
I’ve heard MHD has a more popular UI with faster load times.

Unless you track your car or a hardcore street racer, just get the JB4. Why spend so much more money for a faster car when all you do is zip from stop light to stop light?
That makes way too much sense, lol. Definitely drag racing all the way. Car can cool between runs. I can‘t see someone seriously doing this for track unless they want to spend a lot of down time playing with cooling issues. Probably okay doing the stoplight thing too. The fact a stock Supra can actually go around a track for 30 minute sessions over and over again is pretty damn impressive. Lots of other cars overheat.

Jb4 is limited power and very limited features. I sent mine off to gtp last Friday to unlock. I will be going with bm3. Bm3 currently has more features than mhd. When unlocked, supra can make more hp with 93/e40 custom tune.
Thanx for that. Can you keep me posted on that the process I may want to follow in your steps. I was watching on yt think it was thicc whips he had a smoothee curve on a mhd tune over bm3 same shop and all

You'd think I'd be pretty bias with my response BUT I'm really not.

If there are no objections to additonal money required than 100% ECU tuning over JB4 all day.

However, if on a budget jb4 will definitely do the trick for improved performance, especially since you can pick up used jb4s and resell them when you are done.

Also for those talking about hp numbers, they don't mean much. I have 50+ videos of jb4 supras beating out ecu tuned supras with comparable mods and fuel and same the other way. It's all about how things are set up and the driver. I know plenty of ecu tuned supras with flex fuel that still run low 11s in the 1/4 and 8-9s 60-130. I'd say the majority of them do.

Here's my recommendation. Be realistic about your goals and wants and go from there.

Everyone wants a 8 second supra but no one wants 8 second supra problems.
I want 8 second Supra problems.

I’m embarrassed that I keep getting this confused but if you just do the unlock, it is tunable but you have to use MHD and you don’t get flex fuel, map switching on the fly, anti lag, etc. if you do the unlock and a clone, then you can use ecutek, etc., you get flex fuel, map switching on the fly, anti lag, etc. do I have that right?

Yes this is correct but I’d add that MHD is not the only available solution. Femto has offered support for BM3, MG1 and their own Femtool OBD flasher with their basic unlock service.

But still no SWFA support. So, it doesn’t really matter all that much.

Yeah it's still limited in the same ways, only cal tables are available to flash. It does seem these tuning companies are starting to implement more stuff with the Femto Unlock. MHD for example has the torque limiters removed in a special patch Femto applies during the unlock stage.

It would seem those tuning companies have to share their code with Femto to make this happen, so not much has been ported over for fear of IP theft.

I thought by buying a Supra we were all hard-core street racers 🤣
