Hi all, im new to this forum.
I'm hoping I can take delivery of a mt here by the end of the year or early spring.
Been reading a ton on the mkv... since the supra will be a nice weather toy/daily, I'm wanting to get around the 500 hp mark. I'm having trouble deciphering all the shorthand ?. Is there a pinned thread or anything that goes over all the shorthand and what specific tuners/piggybacks do in reference to what they are capable of? I've had quite a few turbo ? cars in the past so I understand most of the shorthand, but finding where to start with a tuner/piggyback is tough. I've had some experience with the jb4 since a friend had a modded bmw but short of that no real getting in and changing settings with it. Any help would be great

You have two paths to choose. Both require bolt ons to support
1- piggy back JB4
you can get to almost 500 with dp(downpipe) e50 mix and a custom map

2- choose tuner, send off ecu, ecutek + dp, fueling, E 500 ispretty easy

I'm hoping by the end of next year to possibly big turbo the car. So from what I've read there is no reason to buy a jb4? Are all of the meth kits for these cars computer controlled? My last meth kit was based off of boost and throttle position. Also are there any downside to just getting the ecutek. Who is considered the go to guy for tuning these cars? Sorry for so many questions. I'm buying parts before I even get the car ?. Just hurts not having one yet.

Make sure you check the ECU date before you buy if you wanna buy a big turbo.

* JB4 if ECU is locked or you want a mild tune
* Meth kits are meth kits more or less. You can get wild with Reflex, but no point. Boost reference is fine
* Ecutec is the way to go, assuming you get an unlocked ECU
* Jeff Payn, Mikey Botti, Marin Nelson, John Visconti are the goto tuners. F80Paul, Fabien@pureboost, and others will tune it, as well as many local shops.

Thank you all for the info. I'm getting a 2023 (fingers crossed). So I'm certain the ecu would be still encrypted. Again thank you all for the great info.
