Thank you for clarifying, PerformanceSound. I'm not sure how I got my reading mixed on this but now I understand why the GT3 Concept is still a question mark as to what it actually will represent.

Still... NA is a very large market for Toyota and Lexus halo cars so I have hope that it its production version (whatever that may be) will make it here... but now I'm even less clear on what it is envisioned to turn into in the first place.

Fingers crossed for a positive outcome for the A100 Supra, Lexus performance model *and* the GR GT3.

Perhaps it will become a racing only model in similar vein to how Honda almost built a production V10 RWD NSX and then backtracked it to a racing only model at the last minute. Hopefully this car will see more than just racetracks... although I would certainly look forward to it being campaigned in racing also.

Possibly or something along the lines of a racecar and not a road car. I am almost positive we won’t get a GR GT3 street car.

^^ Worst case this would also be my deduction if no direct production model is developed. I think if Toyota does decide to develop the GR GT3 into a street production car it will see global sales. But if they decide not to then... well... as you have said it will most likely see use in some kind of racing series.

Maybe that has been its purpose all along apart from the styling: The GR division gets their own dedicated racing chassis that they can campaign with and use as a testbed for different ideas, approaches and technologies without having it be constrained to the limitations of a mass produced street production car chassis?

And When Toyota Motor Co shows it off as a "concept car" they can gauge public reaction as to how its visual design and obvious intention as a racing style vehicle are received by the press and general public of car enthusiasts.

Maybe...?

The GR GT3 concept has been the Lexus GT3 concept for the past 5 months now (Lexus did a great job preventing these from leaking to the media.. I did grab a few screenshots tho haha!)

I'm fairly certain the production version of this is going to be that "LFR" ttV8 Lexus sports car, and platform mate with the A100. At least, that's what I had gathered from this forum?

I don't see why the Lexus GT3 will a 3rd separate sports car from the LFR/A100. Unless it is true that the 2030 EV LFA successor will be the only car on the GT3 platform.

HONESTLY, the whole LFA successor/LFR situation has confused me a lot. I've seen Lexus refer to the EV 2030 supercar as the LFA successor, and then I've seen people refer to the GT3-based TTV8 sports car as the LFA successor. Which is it, or are both succeeding the LFA? And which one will be the LFR!

I just want a new ICE MR2... too much to ask? I'll accept a hybrid if forced to. ;)

Is there a new “Supra” coming?…..yes.
Is there a new Lexus sports car coming?…..yes.
Will both be built on a similar or same platform?…..yes

The GT3 (as is) will not be a road car. I truly do not know it’s purpose. As a concept or “vision” it makes sense, but in reality this vehicle caters to none of TMC’s buyers (both Toyota or Lexus). Ask yourself, “What segment does this vehicle fit in?”

I just assumed the GT3 is just a preview of their upcoming RCF GT3 replacement, not a road-going car. 🤔 And yeah I can see it being a vision of their next gen GT3 racecar...

What we do know confirmed is whatever the next gen GT3 racecar is is going to have a production version ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ man.. exciting stuff coming but sucks not knowing what specifically lol... Guess we gotta wait and see.

Marmorini, thank you! That’s all I’m going to say.
As in Luca Marmorini who was once in charge of Toyota's F1 engine designs and who worked with Ferrari's electronics and engine designs for F1 throughout the 1990's? o_O

WHAT?!?!

NO. WAY.
Yamaha (as you know) has been a key partner for Toyota for decades. That partnership has only gotten stronger in the last decade. Yamaha played a very important role in the LFA’s development and they will play an even more important role in the new platform. Marmorini’s efforts will dramatically enhance Yamaha’s MotoGP and vehicle engineering program. Great things coming!

But this is for electrification only, right?
