Hi, new to the forum and hopefully a Supra owner soon!

I was wondering, what can I realistically expect, price wise, for a new 2023 that is on the lot? Is paying MSRP still considered a great deal, or should I bother attempting to do any better.

I'm looking at an auto base, not a MT or A91.

This is assuming I'm not buying within a super hot market like CA, of course.
Can’t wait for you to join us! Never hurts to find a lower price and let everyone you know (dealers) about it. Let them compete for your money and business. Never the other way around. Canā€˜t blame them for trying to make extra money either. But stick to your guns on what you want to pay. You will find it!

Just placed order for my 23' Premium MT and I worked with Mike from Motorcars Toyota in Cleveland. He was the best sales guy I've ever dealt with. He gave me an upfront, no bs quote on a build we made together. He did mention there was a 2k markup for out of state buyers, but the way he handled the process, was extremely professional and made my experience much better. If you are out of state of Ohio, give Mike a call and see what he can do for you.

There's like 3 Mikes/Michaels on their webpage, which one did you talk to?

want to get an MKV this year or next. Preferably a 3.0 maybe a premium if I can swing it. Am I better off ordering it from toyota and having it delivered to a local dealer? What should I expect? Been driving the family car since highschool and now I've finished an grad school...

Expect any dealer to ask for more $$$, tell them you’ll pay MSRP or less, and expect to be rewarded for all your hard work/effort from grad school. They are fun as ? and come with a free track day ?

Aloha all, Servco Toyota, MSRP - not a dollar more but do factor in tax, license, documentation fees. No dealer add-ons or inflated "cap" here.

I got my 2023 at MSRP from Toyota of Hackensack (NJ). Apparently they are the #1 volume seller of Supras in the U.S. Ask for Jeff Canlas and tell him Chad from the Lemon Factor referred you in order to get the best price possible. They're out there... just need to look! Good luck.
MT?

So ordering & customizing a new vehicle online will still require me to deal with the local dealer and their b.s.? If that's the case, should I go there first and work the details out about ordering Supra? I really appreciate that man! I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger, but fuck life is too short to drive the family car forever ? Any tips are appreciated.

You don’t really get to order and customize the car, Toyota doesn’t really let you do that. You still need to go to the dealer and put in your preferences and wait in line for their dealer allocation. Depending on your color preference, transmission preference, etc, it may take longer for the car you want to come in.

I wish we can order the exact spec and have it made that way (a la Porsche). Unfortunately Toyota / Magna Steyr didn’t set up the Supra production that way.

Yeah what @LateBraker5 said. If you’re like me and want to do almost everything online, I searched the toyota website for the car I wanted (red interior/grey exterior) and found the dealers that had them. Then, I reached out to their online manager. They will have someone call you. I made it very clear what Iā€˜d pay (MSRP) and if they were willing to do that. So basically, I did the work for them and made sure the terms were clear. You don’t have to go into the dealer. I did it for two different dealers, two Supras. Hope that helps :).

Almost forgot… at the end of the purchase, even long distance like me, they will put their ā€œfinanceā€ guy on the phone with you to sell you lots of end of sale goodies. My recommendation, don’t buy a thing. Anything they are selling you can buy better after market. Clear coat for the vehicle, extended warranty (don’t need it), special dealer service package, you name it. It’s just not needed unless the money in your pocket is absolutely burning a hole in it and that dealer is now your favorite charity. Also, do your financing prior to going into them. Sometimes they can get the best deal. In my case, not even close. So it’s best to do your homework. It’s actually fun being in the driver’s (seat so to speak) of a car purchase.

Bottom line: it’s your money. You can be nice but firm. They will be glad to take your money. If not, move on to another dealer. You’ll get what you want… Capitalism at its best!

Also be forewarned, some out of state dealerships will not sell out of state.

There’s a local dealer by me (Toyota of Seattle) that takes this to the next level. Not only will they not sell out of state, they won’t sell out of the Seattle city limits. And not even the entire city of Seattle, only from a certain cross street and within

I’m in the burbs and was told, ā€œSorry, locals onlyā€, but I live 15 minutes away ?

Wow. I know when I was calling around to out of state, I forgot to block my number on a call.... subsequently after that call I started getting bombarded by spam calls... pretty sure they sold my info. The owner even went as far as looking me up as I was talking to them.

Yikes! That’s going way too far to dig up your personal info. We’re buying a $60k car, not $10M beachfront property

I have to say that buying my Supra was by far the absolute worst overall experience buying any car that I’ve had. Last spring / summer, called around dozens of places, only to be told of $20k markups, mandatory uncharged options, or waiting lists of 20 customers before me. I’m a pretty patient person, but I almost gave up a few times. Glad I didn’t, but it wasn’t fun.

Sounds like the market is getting a bit better, so good luck to everyone still on the hunt!
