Within a month of owning the car I did springs + wheels because I needed better fitment in my life. Satisfied with stock power for now though and want to track it at this power level with 200tw and suspension upgrades before I do anything crazy.

I think if you're going to mod you just need to have a purpose; canyons, track, drag, rolls, hardpark, whatever.

For me anyway, chasing "fun" ends up being something you can never catch up with, too vague. Like I might get a cool dopamine hit for the first couple freeway pulls on an e50 tune but then it wears off after a while. Having a nicely set up canyon car/track toy/drag weapon (that you continue to improve) never gets old though.

agreed, the place this car can improve the most is sharper handling and fitment

Coming from a Kia stinger gt. This car is pretty fast stock for me, and driving it only for 3 seasons. Unless the 21s+ ecus get unlocked globally, don't think I'd add any power mods.

I had my 2020 for about a year before I got a 93 tune and it completely changed the car. So I feel you OP... now I'm looking at downpipe, charge pipes.

Maybe someone here can assist me as I latch onto this post.... if I'm a tuned 2020, should the next step be the downpipe? And I see costs ranging from $600-$1400. Is the $1400 that much better? Catted is my only option where I am. Thanks in advance.
The $1400 one just has a no CEL guarantee. Since you’re getting a tune you can just go for one of the cheaper catted downpipes.

What the hell you people want getting bored out of sport car after only 2 months? Stop driving like a woman and drive it fast like it was made for maybe you might find joy in your npc life??‍♂ an what else you want out of the car, to have a conversation with you??

When I was younger I threw mods and wrench time at my cars. I love spinning wrenches, and I learned a lot about working on cars. I really did some really fun mods to my cars, but everything I did lacked a clear direction.

I got into SCCA Auto-X and actually ended up undoing several of the mods I had done to my car at the time. Even then I ended up a complete novice in STU class getting my ass stomped. Driving the car fast in a competitive environment was a real eye opener about wasting money on useless shit.

The modifications I'm making to my Supra now are specifically to improve performance on track for HPDEs and eventually time attack (maybe).

First and foremost, I'm buying seat time and professional instruction. I'm spending way more time and money on that than any modifications to the car. I've done several events with the car completely stock and fried the tires and brakes.

Right now I'm doing some of the least glamorous mods possible on my Supra, but these mods will make it more suitable for repeated track days. Pads, brake fluid, better motor oil, sway bars, wheels, SPL parts for camber/caster adjustability in front and toe control in the rear. All of this so I can run 275 square 200tw tires that I can rotate. I'm not lowering it. It has the stock exhaust and intake. It has no aesthetic mods, nor any interior mods other than coding out some of the really annoying crap (fake engine noise, etc.).

The excitement of driving on track keeps the car extremely exciting and fresh. The Supra is a beast in motorsports. Greatest of all, no speeding tickets on the track or the strip.

You mean randomly tossing on mismatched, er I mean carbon fiber, body panels on and then calling it a day isn't a purpose?

I have been thinking a Mazda 3 hatch.
That might do it for you. Once you don't daily it, you'll get in it and get a huge grin across your face when you get on the throttle after it warms up. What's old will be new again.

I think you might benefit from light modding. But, jumping between a Mazda 3 Hatch and a Supra during the weekend, you'll feel the difference.

Yep. Im coming from a Corolla that I daily & Ive been enjoying every bit of the Supra bone stock. Such a big diff.
I daily a Subaru (when I need to drive during the week) and then on my off days or holidays give the Supra some road time.

You need a Prius daily driver in your life. Then you'll appreciate the weekend Supra.
Very underrated comment.

I'm sure most don't daily their Supra. Having a day-to-day beater/grocery-getter makes up the thrill when hoping in the Supra long term in stock form.

OP I drove my E40 tuned Supra for the last year and got used to it and it was a ton of fun. Last week I took the car for an oil change and Toyota installed the Brake System Safety Recall that unfortunately writes over your ECU and relocks it. Now my car is stock again and it feels SLOW AS BALLS compared to my E40 tune.... Like so much slower that I was in disbelief at first. To say that the smile that used to appear on my face when I mashed the accelerator has all but disappeared may seem dramatic, but it's the truth. I'm not saying that these cars can't be fun in stock form, but once you've had one tuned and you go back to stock, it's a very VERY jarring experience.

This is why, now that it has MHD, the car will never be taken to the dealership for ANYTHING. In fact, I just paid for an oil change yesterday. I switched to 5x30 Liqui Moly.
