Jesus guys......

Look, I don't think anyone is dismissing what PerformanceSound is saying about the heritage/legacy of the MKIV and the MKV not matching up . I think we all get that point. The fact of the matter is most on here are tired of hearing about it. We all know what this car is and ISN'T, but people get sick of hearing the negatives all the time, it is such a buzzkill. We get it that you don't like where the car ended up or how it even got there, BUT ALL YOUR BITCHING IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE ANYTHING. Maybe it will help them shape the direction for the next gen/special model(if there is one), but it is not going to change anything about what we are about to get with the MKV. It's like some of you guys are trying to sabotage Toyota's release of this car by trying to make everyone take on your opinion on the car.

The bald guy in the video is how I feel about the new Supra....how "all the elements of the car just don't come together right." For me, it's always been the pride of owning a Japanese made car...a car to demonstrate what the engineering potential is for it's automaker. The reason I am not impressed with this MKV Supra is because there is no "WOW" factor right? The engine isn't special, the transmission isn't special, the rear end isn't special, the interior isn't special, etc... There is nothing that screams special about this car, other than the hype of a new Supra....which was started by it's predecessors. Toyota took a motor built by one manufacturer, and stuffed it in a chassis made by another manufacturer, and stamped a Toyota badge on it....that is not showcasing a automakers engineering potential. I know I talk shit about German cars, but even with German cars....if I ever own a German car, it will be a German made German car and not an American made German car (X5, etc..).

For those who own Supra's now (especially the MKIV's)....if they are "old technology" or "outdated", would you sell or trade your car for the MKV Supra? If not, why???
Thanks guys....appreciate the feedback.

There is a reason why GTR's, older Supra's, etc... dominate the tracks/strips. They are proven platforms because they are 100% Japanese engineered cars. The pure Japanese factor is why the 90's cars are legendary. All one has to do is research Japanese automotive engineering practices to understand why the GTR, Supra, etc... names are unforgettable. I can guarantee you that had the MKIV Supra come with a BMW engine in the 90's, you would see junkyards littered with them right now. Of course HKS and Greddy and whoever will have aftermarket products for the MKV, they have to in order to stay afloat. It is the same reason Tremec makes multi-ratio magnum transmissions with different bellhousings....they have to cater to different audiences to make sales. This doesn't mean anything though when we talk about being special. I can make a Toyota Matrix run 9's....but will it be in demand as much as a Supra, GTR, RX-7, etc..?? Why not?? Look at the BMW M cars...they are selling for almost $100k well equipped brand new. Wait two years, and they are half the price. Why?? The Mustang GT350/350R's are maintaining great resale values because they are SPECIAL cars....cars designed to be modified and driven hard as sports cars. How often do you see AMG's and M cars modded in national events?? All I see nowadays are; Supra's, GTR's, Vette's, and Mustangs. Where are the Euro's???

Anyhow, I really have been beating a dead-horse....from now on I am just going to watch from a distance. I am not hear to preach to anyone, im simply trying to bring awareness to those who are not old enough to remember why the Supra name is or was so special....and to hopefully help them make right purchasing decisions in the future.

So far the M car values are increasing fast, look up the e30, e36, e46, 1m, e39, z4m, z3m, etc.... the e90’s are the next as well as e60’s in the future.

When you say modded? What are you implying? There’s tons of M cars and AMG’s modded, just that many don’t do quarter mile racing or straight line type of deals. From my experience of course. How about the lambos? Many of them? Or VW/Audi’s? Again I don’t understand this obsession with massive power mods, maybe I am just too old and stated I prefer handling and steering and how the car makes you feel, lol.

Correct me I am wrong, you have dislike/discontent for BMW’s and German cars in general? That sort of view might be a bit biased as why you feel the way you do with the new Supra. And it’s ok, nothing wrong with that, I am sure a lot do as well. Would you be happier if the Toyota collaborated with Subaru or Honda or whatever Japanese car company? Maybe that’s the reason? I can see and understand both sides, some of the BMW “fans” share the same sentiments about this Toyota collaboration as well.

You realize that stuff like Ms, AMGs, Lexus F-models, Audi S and RS models are all performance luxury cars, right?
If you can't see the difference between them and lets say a Corvette than nobody can really help you.
The last time I checked you don't need 4 doors and roomy and refined interiors if you want to go racing and yet I have never seen totally gutted versions of these kind of cars from the factory just to be as fast and light as possible and guess why? Because that's not what they are about. After all they are neither race cars nor sports cars.

Prove it. Show me an E36 or any M car ( which was more expensive than a MKIV at the time) that has appreciated as much as a MKIV of the same era? I most certainly can prove to you the depreciation of the late model M cars.

This sounds like something a person who has never owned or driven a real sports car would say.

The M4, M2, RCF, RS5, etc... don’t have 4?doors. Whats your point? I wasn’t the one who brought up the sedans, the other guy did. All I said was, I hate the fact that the not-so-special modular engine from BMW will be used for Toyota’s next “halo” car. We all know BMW motors M or not, are junk. Come on man, keep up!

The MKIV is an anamoly. Anyone would be out of their mind to expect the car to appreciate the way it did.

In that same sense, theres no way the MKV would do the same even if it was a Toyota in house product

Nope, you struck nothing. I know very well what Euro cars are and are not capable of doing....Porsche being the exception really. The money it takes to make a modded Euro car perform like a modded Japanese car is double what the car costs (power while maintaining reliability). If you have that kind of income, what are you doing looking at Supra’s? Pick up the phone and call UGR asap!!!

He can’t, he’s blinded with his hatred and distaste w

Come on, tell us how you really feel about BMW? Don’t hold back. In the end this isn’t about the Supra but your discontent and hatred everything German and European. Am I right?

“Junk” hahahaha

We aren’t debating over that, it was about the point if they are modded or not, you claim you don’t see any, that was the point I was trying to make.

I love Supra’s since the 90’s and a car enthusiast, I don’t care if they are American, Jdm or euro. I’ve stated this already.

In the 90’s I’ve had a 400hp integra, single turbo t78 rx7, e36 M with racing Hart’s. Lol. always wanted an mk4 but didn’t pull the trigger.

So, what’s a “real” sports cars? A car that makes 1000hp or a car that’s balanced? Chassis, steering, engine, etc...

the irony..since when was post count on a random forum a form of credibility...
Not a form of credibility.....it's just that historically speaking, these newbies tend to hop on to this forum, give their two cents, and then disappear after their 40th post, only to come back as a new members with even more bullshit. It happens in alllll the forums....just sick back and watch.

What's actually funny is the same people who talk about "ignoring me" or clicking "ignore" are the same ones who keep responding back. Indeed, how ironic.
