In this thread: People that didn't read the fucking book that came with their car.
Surely this thread sticks in a couple people's craw 😂😂😂
I had a couple days to kill before I had time to go pick it up.
I picked my first one up 11 months after I put down a deposit, so I had plenty of time to read the fucking manual. 3 weeks after delivery, my was car t-boned by red light runner and totalled. For the next one, I had to wait only 7 months, so I didn't get quite as much reading time in, but that's okay because not much had changed.

And, yes, I am still salty.

Warning, this can be mildly annoying if you know about it:

The turn indicator lights are shown in the display within the RPM gauge.
But there are (seemingly) unused turn indicator marks at the top of the gauge cluster.
AFAIK, these turn indicators are unused. Don't think I ever had them activated during emergency braking.

The circled ones are there so that it can still display a signal while the LCD is off - i.e., when you have the car turned off, with the hazard lights on.

As for the ones on the LCD, those are there to be in a better location for visibility to the driver, as the ones on top are difficult to see if you like your steering wheel positioned low.

So how do you remove the rear trunk (Boot in the U.K) cover off of the aluminium cross bar ?
I can see how it clips off of the plastic lugs !!

Edit: I just realized that this is the first time I've seen a toyota logo on a part of this car (you can see it on the top of the part)
ugh it took me until just now to realize this was a thing. so much time wasted spent trying to pry my phone from out of that slot, should have done this ages ago.

The body comes pre-tapped with holes in the middle floor that are plugged for a manual transmission...
There's indicators all over the car that they considered what changes the manual version would need and built them in from the start. A blatant one is the hole in the upper firewall (hidden under the firewall insulator on the AT) that lines up perfectly with an unusual indentation in the left cowl drainage tube. It's the one we all punctured with a screwdriver to run our JB4 OBD connector wires through. On the MT, that's where the clutch master cylinder hose runs through, and it fits precisely into the indent on the drainage tube. Hmmmm
It has bmw parts stamped under the hood.
If you wanna see something funny, open your hood and look at the main black emissions label on the underside. Shine a light on it at the correct angle and you'll see a bunch of BMW names like a hidden holograph.

place handle over hook on either side, lower trunk, the cover will cover the hooks. groceries stay upright.

I recently discovered these after a trip to Publix. They look like they’re a part of the hatch cover at first, but they’re awesome for groceries.

I thought the same thing. It took me months to find out, now I always use them
