Updated January 19, 2019:

The first 2020 Toyota GR Supra has sold for $2.1 million at the Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale!!

Barrett-Jackson Auction Proceeds to Benefit American Heart Association and Bob Woodruff Foundation

December 13, 2018
PLANO, Texas (Dec. 13, 2018) -- Sportscar enthusiasts have been anxiously anticipating sliding behind the wheel of their own all-new 2020 Supra. The honor of being the first one to do so will go to the highest bidder at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Saturday, January 19, 2019.

This one-of-a-kind Supra will be the first new Supra available in the U.S in more than 20 years and will carry VIN number 20201. It will feature a matte gray exterior with red mirror caps, a red leather interior and matte black wheels. A carbon-fiber badge on the interior will indicate its status as the first 2020 Supra. Additional exclusive experiences will be announced prior to the auction.

All proceeds of the sale will be shared by the American Heart Association and the Bob Woodruff Foundation. The American Heart Association’s mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. The Bob Woodruff Foundation finds, funds, and shapes innovative programs that help our post-9/11 impacted veterans, service members and their families thrive long after their time in uniform.

The Supra prototype on display at Barrett-Jackson will be representative of the actual production vehicle that will be delivered in the first half of 2019.

The World Premiere of the 2020 Supra will take place Monday, January 14, 2019, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The reveal will be livestreamed for global audiences.

That vin number makes no sense. Either there is 200 cars made before this one for other markets, or they're only building 99 Supras for North America

Wonder if this thing is getting a BMW style vin or Toyota style vin, or both. Toyota leaves at least 6 digits for the actual chassis number in their vins, and they don't roll over with model year either. Model year doesn't even factor into them.

But bespoke triangle post that bolts to the body. This is actually the exact same situation as the mk2 Supra. They put different mirrors on the 85 Celica XX in Japan, but they were actually the exact same mirrors as they used on the AE86 and aw11, but with a unique post arrangement.

While the mirrors aren't FT1 sexy, they do look a little better with some color on them.

And while we're on the topic, so much for bUmmerpost insider claiming that they were going to look Highlanderish.

The overall shape is similar, but the styling of the cap is obviously different.

Everybody looking at the mirrors and not the seats.

Jeff
I think it's probably because we all already knew what they look like, but this is the first official photo from Toyota showing the same mirrors as the Z4. Finally putting to rest the debate whether they were just place holders or the final product.
