we may need to take this to PMs, but I was under the impression that secondary o2 sensor was the only CEL code that cannot be suppressed and overridden into ready state with ecutek. and IL emissions allows for up to one unready sensor, but exception cannot be the secondary o2.

With a tune you will NOT have a check engine light, but your rear O2 check will come back as "NOT READY" and while other metrics will say "READY" this might be enough to make you not able to pass - you would have to double check your emission law.

You can have 1 monitor not ready and still pass as long as its not the catalyst monitor which is the converter.
of course, i have doubts the armytrix cat sim will still work 10 years into the future. so if you know about a more permanent solution for IL emissions (other than register the car in Gary Indiana...), I'm up to try anything.

So I have the armytrix catless dp and i dont have a CEL. An alignment shop did plug in to read some codes and the o2 sensor downpipe code did not pop up on the readings

Your better off looking on the BMW forums for this type of info - I have catless car with BM3 Femto Unlock flashed with the "Stage 2 Multimap".

I turned back on the Cat Heating cycle so I should only have one "not ready" which would be the rear o2s when I go for smog....so I should be finding out next year or in '25.

I passed smog on my 06 GTO with no cats and the rear O2 were "not ready".

it's so hard to find IL-specific smog info. seems like a lot of threads are focused on CA smog checks, which seem to be next level of strict.

The only comment was "SOUNDS GOOD MAN" - while the whole facility stunk like raw gas.

If CA level type of stuff comes to IL - its time to sell the car :/

Interesting, has anyone tried it on here yet? I see a few bimmerpost threads, but they're all from 2017 or so (so the cars are probably ~2014 models).

Did a bit of googling, looks like the old TokenSolutions PnP adapters no longer work on modern vehicles. It's a shame, I hate the idea of hacking into harness wiring.
