color me shocked at well, Jeff. I didn't think the NA folks would go that way, but here we are.

It is the launch model for the Gazoo Racing brand though vs a trim/tune. I think our error (or at least mine) in thinking may have been comparing it to the 86 and how it received TRD appointments vs GR/GRMN, but this car is the GR Supra by Toyota as where the former was a Toyota vehicle first and foremost.

Toyota Canada said:
The legendary Toyota Supra makes its long-awaited return starting with its debut at the 2019 North American International Auto Show. The all-new GR Supra is engineered for pure driving pleasure – from its 300 HP turbocharged inline V6 engine to its racing-inspired interior. Fun-to-drive has never looked or felt so good.

I don't understand how it can be competitive with a Cayman with that power and that weight... But from all accounts, it is? (Porsche and BMW both underrate their power figures)

Its on par with the Cayman's 0-60 times and has more torque through out the powerband

Not sure how much truth this has behind it but my dealer just told me only 330 cars are coming into Canada

I believe it. One of my contacts in the US mentioned 500 for Canada as an estimate a while back iirc.

For the first year only probably, sounds about right. Here's the link for the Canadian announcement, but its the same as the USA one, just converted to metric units and no pricing mentioned...

Thats my hope (not that I'm buying one), the price will be a really good deal here as the CDN to USD exchange shouldn't factor in, it will be Euros to CND that matters this time around.

Great so we won’t be able to get the launch edition in the yellow paint job that was leaked a few weeks back?
Also not sure how I feel about the red mirrors, reminds me too much of 2015 nismo 370z

Sounds about right, there are less than 300 dealers in the whole country so this wouldn't surprise me. The market for a rear drive Japanese sports car up here is nothing like it is in the USA. The RC sold 280 units last year and the GS only 190. Nissan only sold 30 GTR's. Granted these are all aging models but the last thing Toyota needs is a brand new cars sitting on lots. The unfortunate part of this is I imagine choices will be few and far between as far as options/colors.

Canadian debut is in Montreal next week. I will ask Toyota reps see if they have a clue.
