Looking to swap from Catless DP to Catted DP. Worried about Custom Flex fuel e50 tune needing to be adjusted for the cat being in place instead of catless. It is difficult to have it retuned and would rather not, even if there's a decrease in performance. My worry is it will hurt my engine because of the downpipe being switched.

If anyone can give me some advice with this situation it would be much appreciated. Can I swap to a Highflow catted downpipe from Catless and not have to re-adjust tune or can I just swap the downpipes and call it a day?

Do you have emissions?

YES - Keep OEM dp - go catless

NO - Go catless
I'm already catless but I'm running an SP1R exhaust. I'm looking for an alternative before selling (If I really do decide to go that route) to maybe tame the exhaust a bit on how loud it truly is. I'm not chopping the exhaust up to add a resonator or anything like that.

I think it’s best to contact your tuner to see what they say but ideally I would say you should have a retune with each substantial modification. Perhaps it also depends on the cat inside the downpipe if it’s a 200, 300, or 400 cell.

If noise is the concern so much so that selling the car is a consideration it sure seems like swapping the exhaust is a better move. You avoid the need for a retune and while moving to a catted downpipe will take the edge off a bit...I fully expect the bigger culprit here is that you have one of the loudest exhausts on the market, if memory serves me correctly.

Oh sorry if my wording came off as if I'm planning on selling the car which I'm not. Was meaning more so selling the exhaust. I'm looking at HKS's exhaust and seeing if anyone would possibly trade.

From what I'm hearing I'll need a retune if I move to a Catted Downpipe setup. I appreciate the feedback I've gotten on this thread about this topic. Ultimately I'll contact my tuner for further details. Thank you all.

Both.

Start catless because they are dirt cheap and cheaper used.

Then roll around and see if you like the sound, power bump, and smell.

I've been cattless for years now and haven't bothered getting catted again so far, but plan to get the AA one day when I stop neglecting my poor car.
