RECALL - Data Communication Module (DCM) Update

Main thing I’m hoping for are refinements to steering, suspension, diff etc from late model cars. Also adaptive cruise updates. Not worth loosing a tune over but if your stock may see some improvements.

Have your tried to add anything back with Bimmercode? Did they give you the Istep version?

I haven’t tried yet. I have to lookup the guide again and try it over the weekend. No idea what version they gave me.

it's among going into your driver profiles, export driver profile to a USB, plugging USB into comp, open with notes, and should be a bit easy to find

Just got mine done. Took the dealer almost 2 hours. They said the file is huge. My car is not tuned.

So far I see that it reset time and date, cleared my saved quick menu buttons and reset sport mode setting. My iPhone was still ok though as it instantly connected to Apple Car Play.

Dealers are funny. It took me approx 45 minutes in my garage to do like 3 years of updates, including hooking up a proper power supply. lol

It shouldn't take over 45 minutes but. . I have an FJ Cruiser as well. A few years ago, I took it in, took them a long time for an oil change that was covered and then I looked at the milage. 45 miles!!! I was pissed and told them to do a few blocks of testing but it appeared all that time was because someone decided to take a nice drive, go home or something. Management was of little help. Precision Toyota of Tucson.

I never got a notice of a brake recall. That isn't good. Mine in a 2020.

I know the notice talks about voice calls, but will avoiding the update cause issues with navigation and Maps updates?

I use CarPlay only because I know how & can use it on all our cars…. Oddly enough the Supra infotainment prompted me yesterday to update it. I was driving and answered yes (I thought) ??‍. Went into my destination, came back out and the navigation was telling me I was going the wrong way. I didn’t put in any destination that I knew of. So I found the silence button & switched it back to CarPlay.

If I have more time I’ll give the Toyota version a try. It now has a Toyota app icon on the main screen.

I got rescheduled to now Next Tuesday the 27th. Apparently they only have 1 tech that can work on the cars which I can somewhat understand but it's just a software update. Not that difficult to do

They are upgrading your computer to be able to interface to 5G technology. Do not do this update they have not thought out all of the interfacing required.
