Looks great! Is max low height on ohlins 0.75 inches?
Recommended drop is 20 mm (0.79 inches) from Ohlins. Could go to 30 mm (1.18 inches) but she’ll likely rub as your speeds increase.

Can anyone give their input on how these ride on the street on the softer setting? Looking to see if these are more smooth over bumps than OEM.

I can’t remember, it’s that nice ;) And mine is a click or two stiffer than the recommended track settings.

It’s similar to when Consumer Reports claims all Mazdas may be too stiff for some. That is true. But also why I’d prefer a Mazda over others out of the box cars. To each his own. It definitely doesn’t feel Cadillac floaty ☁

Looks awesome! Swift springs/helper springs help to get the coilovers lower?
I'm near OEM height with my setup.

Barry at 3DM Motorsport had my Ohlins revalved and fitted with swift springs and swift helpers springs.

Front spring set: (12k)
Z65-127-120
ID: 65mm (2.56")
Length: 127mm (5") x 2

Rear spring set: (22k)
Z65-152-220
ID: 65mm (2.56")
Length: 152mm (6") x 2

Helper Springs:
H65-060-015
Flat wire 65mm (2.56") ID x 4

I currently run 15 clicks front and 20 clicks rear on the streets—the OEM is smoother than my setup.

Nice!!!!!!! I’m near OEM height as well and my OEM setup was definitely smoother than after installing the Ohlins. But the Ohlins still feels great imo. Looking forward to sending mine to Barry at 3DM. I don’t need mine serviced quite yet. Hopefully I make it to the end of this track season.

How long is the turnaround time?

I am currently on stock dampers with Eibach springs (20 mm drop). I want 10 mm lower.

I will install Millway camber plates, Verkline front+rear sway bar ends and rear toe links.

My options are either HKS adjustable springs or Ohlins R&T coilovers. Do you have any input on a 30 mm drop for Ohlins R&T?

Thank you in advance

That’s fantastic Kevin! I’m near OEM height as well and the OEM setup was definitely smoother than after installing the Ohlins. But it feels great imo. I can’t wait to use Barry. My local shop, Autoquest, said I didn’t need revalved quite yet. But when I do, I’ll definitely be sending mine his way. Hopefully I can make it to the end of this track season, next April or later.

Assuming you remove all four coilovers and send them to him. How long is the turnaround time?

Great info btw!!
it varies since he has a busy schedule, I think if i remember correctly it took 1.5-2 months to get my setup back. I was still on HKS adjustable springs and verus camber plates at the time so I didnt mind waiting.

I ordered brand new ohlins from a shop and I had that shop send the ohlins directly to Barry at 3DM motorsports to get it revalve with the swift springs & helpers. Part of the long wait was waiting for the OEM top hats to ship to his shop since it was out of stock.

I have the same setup as my friend who consulted Barry first "it gets rid of the reverse rake that the ohlins are famous for. Barry consulted his friends who own Supra GT4s on spring rates and ride height for me"

Anybody had issues after they installed their Ohlins?
Now I hear a clunking noise at the back and front passenger side whenever I turn at like 3-6mph. It feels like it's slipping (hopefully it's nothing major)

I am on oem end links, sway bars, etc. I checked everything and no visible rubbing or loose nuts/bolts. I took this back to Chewerks twice already and had them torque everything down again and checked for spring binding (they adjusted preload, springs rotate freely)

I am thinking that it might be the bearings on the coil itself since it's been re-used just like what the manual said. Car is around 4-5 years old now at 37k miles.

Shouldn’t be making any weird noises. Some bearings will wear quicker than others. But if it wasn’t doing it prior to installation, it shouldn’t be that.

Which top hats do you have? Does the spring turn at all when the wheel turns and ultimately slip? You‘d hear that.

Hey thanks fore replying!

When I had it installed, they re-used the tophats. I do have the OEM ones. I have only tried jacking the car up, removing the wheel and turning the springs.

Now it feels weird, like it feels like it's the driveshaft or axles that is slipping or have play. Happens at low speed and when the car jolts forward, I hear a clunking sound.

Disregard the title/content of the video, but the relevancy starts at 1:28. Is this the clunk you hear?
