Just had mine done on my 2021 with 16.8k miles, along with oil change. Was on S18T-07-519, ended up with S18T-23-07-505. That sounds kinda old right? Does anyone know what the minimum version is that includes the DCM patch?
Also, when service writer rung me up, he said oil change is cheaper today, I asked why, and he said that there is a shortage of the GR 0w20 oem oil, so they used the Toyota oem 0w20 synthetic instead. And that tech said it should be fine as it is also 0w20…
Not my happiest visit
That is super odd. I commented back on like page 7 with a picture of the version that they updated mine to quite a while ago. Yours is definitely not the current version it doesn't seem like.

Mine back in the summer when I had it done was updated to S18t-24-07-530

True lol I had been going past 2 times for toyota care services but now that those are up, might just take it to BMW. Is that what everyone else have primarily been doing? (other than those who do it themselves).
My understanding is BMW themself won’t/can’t touch it. Probably some contract thing. Independent BMW garage is your absolute best choice.

Yeah you and CarGuy are on year 24 versions. Wondering if the 23 version was the latest they had downloaded on their laptop, and they didnt' want to wait to download the latest version if the 23 version was already compliant? I would assume/hope that the 23 version has the major fixes (reduce throttle hesitation and dcm update) as the service campaign mentioned affected vehicles only MY 2020-2023. A July 2023 software version should have made it into MY2024 cars I'm guessing

Yeah been reading mixed feedback on whether people's BMW dealers service it or not. Was playing it safe by going to Toyota with the gray area while under warranty, but now that powertrain is coming up, might take it to bmw independent like you said

One good thing the 23 version may still be able to turn off Stop/Start with BimmerCode.

Yeah could be, I coded everything back last night when I got home but haven’t gone out and tested everything. Defaulting to start in sport so can’t test the stop start memory directly.
Driving home with the ASD gave me a headache for sure, it was resonating at a different frequency as my FI exhaust and sounded even more artificial than when I last had it turned on with stock exhaust

I was actually going to comment on that. Would be interested to know if it does. I'm just forever in sport mode anyway whenever I drive the car with the exception of toggling the transmission between normal/sport.

Coding to start in sport mode still works so I don't forget to shut off the stupid auto start/stop feature

I have not done the update and don't want to if it disables the auto shut off. A horrible feature.

I guess one way around the auto start/stop after the update would be to get the XHP flash since that has the auto start/stop disabling feature. However, I haven't seen anyone do the update then used that option on XHP yet so can't confirm that it'll work.

I got the DCM update and it bricked my navigation, It sat at the dealer for a week and then I got a new head unit which fixed the built-in navigation issue.

Now my keyless entry is not working and all the handles are unresponsive.

I changed my key fob battery and still no change. Has anyone else dealt with this?

1st time I went to my local Toyota service center, I realized (and they did too) that I had a BMW. So I took it to BMW my 2nd time. Then I realized the big box dealer‘s welcome to your first day changing oil service techs worked there too. So I finally wound up between two different German/BMW mechanics. They started at a big box retailer and eventually graduated to owning their own shop. Now the head mechanic is working on my car every time.

Not that every dealer will be this way. But in general, this is the case.

I can only verify I haven’t taken mine in yet and the car still works just as it did before :bonk:

So if this is the new coding for 2024,
Does that mean any MY 24 can’t shut off the auto start/stop?

I would assume so but if anyone has a MY24 that has coded that in or attempted to wants to chime in we could find out.
