Anyone traded their s550 Mustang GT for a Supra, any regrets?

Owning both cars right now I’d say you won’t regret the switch, especially how great out of the box this platform is. But I will say that the raw feeling you get with the Mustang won’t be here. Like what FLTrackDays said earlier, Supra is definitely a precision tool while the Mustang feels like a sledgehammer. Size is a concern if you are planning to daily the Supra, but you can definitely still do Costco runs as long as there’s no passenger lol. Size comparison courtesy of my driveway camera

This pic is not a real or fair comparison. Your Supra is closer to the street and further from the camera, which has a fish eye lens exaggerating the depth difference even more so. The Supra is 15” shorter in length and 2.4” narrower than the Mustang. This pic makes the Supra look like a Mini next to the Mustang. It is smaller, but not THAT much smaller.

TBH I didn’t realize the Supra is that much shorter. Good point comparing both cars out of the (dealer) box.

Length:
• 2024 Ford Mustang: 189.4 inches
• 2024 Toyota Supra: 172.5 inches
Width (without mirrors):
• 2024 Ford Mustang: 75.4 inches
• 2024 Toyota Supra: 73.0 inches
Height:
• 2024 Ford Mustang: 55.0 inches
• 2024 Toyota Supra: 50.9 inches

And an even bigger stat (to me), weight: 3827 lbs vs 3400 lbs

It is much smaller, but somehow parking it feels like it is much bigger than it is. I had many close calls with the front end almost ripping a curb... the mkv is surprisingly long from where the driver is.

I got so used to driving the Mach 1 when I had it that the Supra definitely felt smaller and the difference weight is noticeable as well. The car feels way better to drive but just less roomy to me (not a bad thing or a big deal).

Still don't regret making the change to this day but was also having tranny issues with the Mach 1

Not sure about the s550 gt, but I test drove/cross shopped the s650 gt against the supra recently. I have always been a big Mustang fan, but did not like the way the new mustang felt compared to the Supra. Its throttle response felt much more sluggish, and the car just felt much bigger and heavier, despite actually being pretty fast. I do admit that the Supra doesn't sound nearly as nice.

That said, my 2017 gt350 feels just as responsive as the Supra and sounds much better, so I definitely wouldn't give it up for the Supra.
Dude your GT350 was my dream car, if I had to do it again I would've found a 19 or 20 GT350 and bought that imo, but the prices at the end of covid were still high relatively

Right since I typically leave extra space behind the supra for my trash cans. Dimensionally the Supra isn’t that much smaller, but the interior space & trunk alone is where you’ll definitely see/feel the size difference. Also I was too lazy to walk outside to take a photo ?

I tell people all the time that the Supra has a shorter wheelbase than the BRZ/86, by a little over 4 inches even. Most don't believe me.
The BRZ/86 has a surprisingly footprint (area between the wheels) for what it is. The difference in wheelbase between the A90 and 86 is the difference in wheelbase between the 86 and Rav4. The 86 even has a longer wheelbase than the A80.

I had a S550 GT (a coupe and a convertible) a couple of cars before the Supra. I echo most of the comments here, but with the caveat that the Mustang is nearly half the price of the Toyota, so it's not exactly apples and oranges. Bang for the buck, the Mustang is pretty good if you can get past that low rent interior.

How is a 350GT or its bigger brother ½ the price of a Supra? Hell a decent track ready Mustang 5.0 is the same or more than a Supra 3.0. Except the Supra weighs less, quality is far superior and like you said that low rent Ford interior doesn’t even come close.

I’d agree, the S650 prices have really increased. I think a GT Premium with track options / performance pack options is about the same as a Supra Premium new.

The thread refers to the S550, not the S650 or the 350GT or 500GT specifically... I was referring to a base GT, which started in the low 30s back when I bought one. I suspect you can easily get one, even "track ready" on the used market for under 30K.

Even then you’ve got to sink a lot more money into one than you do our Supra’s to make it a reliable track weekender. For the money, the Supra is punching way above her pay grade.

We had a 2016 base GT 5.0 manual. It was no where near what this Supra can do. I even put sway bars on it and realized, weight and so many other factors - it wasn’t going to make the track car cut - w/out dumping a crap ton of coin into it. So my wife babied it instead and enjoyed the heat that came off the drivetrain into the cabin when you got on it in town.

You really don’t see many on them at the track. Unless you put a lot of money into them or buy a much more expensive one ??

Were you in Thailand? Aight, will show myself out the door..

Supra is definitely more nimble and precise than my '18 mustang. With the digital dash and ventilated seats, the interior was fine to live with. I had an h pipe and Borla axle back and cold starts would set off car alarms heheh.

I still won't ever say I don't miss the Mach, however, I still stand behind the things I've said between the 2 cars. Supra feels like a track weapon and the Mach 1 felt a little like a boat comparatively speaking. I'm sure the car would have been every bit as fun on track but the responsiveness, handling, and feeling of power going down in the Supra compared to that car is just all around better.
