Hey guys, I got an interesting one.
Essentially, the vents on the driver side (left of steering wheel and the vent in the middle closest to the steering wheel) aren't blowing the same temperature as the passenger side vents.
At first, it was that the driver side vents weren't blowing as much air as the passenger vents, doesn't matter the fan speed, it was noticeable that the air was lower. Looked around on the forums and the FB group, saw a couple of people have an issue with a blend door actuator, but in their cases, the driver vent(s) were either not working or not blowing hot / cold. First I thought maybe it was my cabin air filter, an easy fix? As I was due for one anyways. (I'm at 44k miles now) I changed that, and now the vents blow the same amount (at least that's what it feels like) But the temp problem still remained. Checked my coolant and noticed it was pretty low, refilled that, temp problem still remains.
I'm severely hoping it's not my blend door actuator, as I don't want to take apart the whole dash to get it to it, or pay Toyota a ransom to replace it.
I'm thinking it could just need a re-initialization? As it's still working. Whenever it's on max a/c, the power is there, but the vents feel slightly warmer than the frigid air coming from the passenger vents. Whenever I turn both sides to 84 degrees and have the fan on max power, it's warm but it's not as hot as the passenger vents.
If I do need a re-initialization, does anyone know how to do that or what to use to do it? I don't have bimmerlink so i'm not sure if I could do it on there. Protool maybe?
If anyone has any suggestions that'd be awesome. Thanks!
